Metoprolol is a safe and effective medicine, a class of drug called beta blockers. Any beta blocker will have similar side effect profile. If you are too worried with the adverse effects, you can ask visit an electrophysiologist (cardiologist who specializes in svt) and ask if you qualify for an "ablation procedure" this may help get rid of beta blockers.
