Hi Sir, I am taking mesacol 400 mg tablets 2-0-1 for the past 4 years as maintenance dose for ulcerative colitis, which I had contracted almost 25 years ago, the maintenance dose for which I am taking is for last 4 years. I am 70 years old and is not on any other medication except covance 50 mg tablets for bp in 1-0-0 dosage. Of late I am getting knee pain on both my legs which the physician says is starting of osteo arthritis. Since I am moderately active with regular morning walks for 1 hour and some mild yoga exercises and is not smoker or alcoholic and I am very regular with my food timings I am constrained to believe that the so called osteo arthritis can be due tomesacol. If so please advise a way to come out of this ailment.

You have osteoarthritis and it is not due to mesacol and your age is the cause of oa which happens as the age advances despite being active or engaged in exercises as you do.

Hi sir, my brother age is 42 suffering ulceration colitis for last 11/2 year. He is taking medicine budez cr capsule 3 times before food, mesacol od 1200 mg 3 tab after food, probiotic capsules 2 tablet, dozep50 also for sleeplessness. Still he is feeling pain in stomach and going bathroom min. 10 times falling blood every time, always feeling fever. We are very upset kindly suggest or refer doctors/hospital/diet please Thanks in advance

Please consult medical gastroenterologist in your area. If there is not much response to above stated treatment, immunosuppression and monoclonal antibodies is the next possible option. Some individuals who do not respond to this as well are candidates for surgery i.e. Colectomy, where affected portion of colon is removed.

My mother has srus (solitary rectal ulcer syndrome). Colonoscopy report shows srus. She has blood in stool & stomach pain currently. Earlier in 2015 she has surgery for uterus ,this pain & bleeding starts after that surgery. She has been taking medication for last 6,7 months but no relief .consulted many doctors but no relief. Medication that she is taking currently: 1. Vegaz od tablet 2. Cremalax tablet 3. Freego granules 4. Mesacol suppository 5. Drotin tablet when stomach pain.

Well for this she needs review if symptoms are persistent. Also if routine blood tests were not done and sos sigmoidoscopy and biopsy. Otherwise treatment part looks ok.

Hi doc. My name is gazi (male )and I am 27 years old. Last 5 years I have ulcerative colitis. My main problem is bleeding form rectal when I take prednisolone I am fine eg. Start with 40 mg reduce and stop with 5 mg so 8x5 = 40 days and. Max 3 months more I am fine after that again start bleeding also continues with mesacol 1.2 also I took azathioprine (azoran) but those medicine can't stop bleeding only prednisolone is a solution for me what can I do. And if I start taking prednisolone again is that any problem? In a year how many time I can take prednisolone and other medicine available? In 5 year I took 8-10 time pendisilone thats in advance :) let me know the solution.

I'm suffering from ulcerative colitis. I was diagnosed in 2011 Nov. After doing colonoscopy my doctor told that it has affected my whole colon and suggested me methylprednisolone from 36 mg and decreasing it 4 mg every 5 days and stop it. And I used Azathioprine and mesacol for 4 years. After I started using these medicines I started feeling normal but used to have inflammation sometimes and with using ornidazole for 3 days I used to become normal. In Nov 2015 after doing colonoscopy again my doctor confirmed that it has cured very well and asked me to stop using Azathioprine and continue using mesacol. Now almost after 1 and half year again y symptoms for Ulcerative colitis came back and I had to consult doctor and again after doing sigmoidoscopy it is confirmed that ulcer has started again in my colon. Again I was suggested to methylprednisolone and Azathioprine. Currently I'm under medication. Now with my experience I figured out that over masturbation has caused ulcerative colitis to me. Actual in when I was 12 or 13 I got to know something that happened in my family and it disturbed me a lot and got me into masturbation and now it is causing so many health issues for me. As mentioned earlier I used to have increased inflammation sometimes under medication too, that used to happen when ever I had done masturbation. So, I have decided I won't do it again and by end of 2015 everything was fine it got cured well. Now recently in Feb 2017 I had masturbated twice and my ulcerative colitis came back. Until then I was fine without any problem. Now my question is only masturbating twice has got me again into worse ulcerative colitis, if I have sex then will it worsen my condition? I'm 24 and my parents are started searching matches for me and I'm very confused about what to do. If having sex increases ulcerative colitis then I don't want to get into it as this may lead to colon cancer and surgery all those things. I don't want to risk my health and life. Also my ovaries functioning has decreased. I think the reason for that is also excessive masturbation. Please suggest me something on this.

There is no connection between masturbation and ulcerative colitis. Ulcerative colitis is a life long disease which has relapsing remitting course. Stop worrying about masturbation. It has no connection with ulcerative colitis.

Sir, I am suffering from ulcerative colitis from last 7 years. I have taken muscle 400 mg BD, entofoam twice a day, sysfol 5 mg. Now my medicine has changed to mesacol supositiry twice, vegaz od, and entofoam twice a day. I stopped taking milk after discussion with doctor and not eating raw fruit and salad but overall I am taking healthy food including curd and lassi in my regular diet however I am fond of tea and consumed 4 to 5 cup daily. Now my problem is that I faced cramp in my body any day even if I do some physical work I may get cramp which is sign of deficiency of any required vitamin or protein another problem is my mouth got dry if I speak for one or two minutes. My weight is continuously increasing. Kindly suggest what should I do. Is taking multivitamin capsule will cure of my cramp and all.

I am suffering from ulcerative colitis from (2014) 4 years and diagnosed by gastroenterologist in 2016. March. Then Dr. Prescribed me to use wysolone 10 mg for 4 weeks by reducing dosage on every week. Then my symptoms like blood and mucus, stool frequency are controlled but not inflammation then Dr. Prescribed me meascol rectal suppository told me use in bed time, but am not able to use meascol becoz whenever am keeping mesacol in rectum then I used to go bathroom then its coming out along with stool. Then Dr. prescribed me saaz ds for 6 months. I used for 6 months later my symptoms were very severe. Then I am completely sticked to home becoz of diarrhea. Then I am using wysolone 10 mg daily 2 tab without doctor suggestion it is giving me relief and my symptoms are normal. So please suggest me is any problem of using wysolone for a long time.

Wysolone is a steroid and it has side effects in the long run. Try to manage your symptoms with dietary modifications and take medications minimally.

Hi I am 32 years old am suffering with ulcerative colitis form past 8 years, I was treated at Asian Institute of gastroenterology Hyderabad by senior Dr. They given me the steroid wysolone and I was seriously affected by it I used steroid for 2 years 30mg, My face became Puffy face and my weight increased 20 kgs, and loss immunity power and I went for cataract surgery and got vitamin D deficiency lot more changes, Dr. in AIG they are not caring about all this after that I changed the Dr. now am get treated in yashoda hospital hyderabad hear they are taking care for both on UC and side effects of steroid. Now also am using steroid defcort 6 mg Dr. said I have to use the steroid for life long for UC am using mesacol od 2 tables and azaron 50 mg 1 tablet, pantocid dsr 1 tband for blood pressure am using a tablet and vitamin d, c, e so many tablet using all this tablet now am suffering with frequently giddiness I want to now if I stop steroid am getting giddy and I can not able to perform any work am not able to go out in daytime so many complications any one can help me please reply with brief answers.
