I have been prescribed 10 days course of ofloxacin and ornidazole for stomach and bladder pain. I still have pain so I ordered urine culture test myself which came back positive for e.coli infection. Pale yellow, clear ntu, pus cells 2-3/hpf, 50000 cfu/ml, resistance to ciprofloxacin, cefoperazone/sulbactam, piperacillinTazobactum, ERTAPENEM, cefepime/Tazobatum, nitrofurantoin, ceftriaxone/Tazobatum, meropenem, cefixime and sensitive to gentamicin, amikacin,tigecycline, fosfomycin. Is my infection low or high? Should I consult doctor again? Why it is resistant to so many antibiotics?

You will have to contact your doctor again and in my opinion, Apart from taking symptomatic treatment take tablet Zifi-O after contacting your doctor and within three days infection needs to be under control.

Bone marrow and lymph node biopsy done to trace cause of fever. Antibiotics on. Diarrhea happened .platletdecreased. Fever happened. Sudden fall in bp and heart beat 135. Shifted to icu. Why is it happening inspite of use of meropenem. Tigeracyclin.and other heavy antibiotics. What is the problem.

My baby is 1.4 years old, last 2 months he is suffering regular diarrhoea within 4-5 days interval after some recovery by medication (consulted with doctors) but no satisfactory improvement yet. My father, aged 68, is currently hospitalized and is diagnosed with blood infection, non-cardiac pulmonary edema and severe back pain upon jerks or postural change. He has been cleared of myeloma. His MRI, x-rays and pet Scan showsabnormal contrast on two spinal vertebrae. Doctor is suspecting Spine TB though the Biopsy is still awaiting. However, prelim reports from the Biopsy lab shows no trace of TB though. He has been on antibiotics for 5 days now (meropenem) and he has shown very good improvement so far (including decrease in the back pain). However, I want to know how long it could take before he would be able to hold blood oxygen levels again. Currently he needs 2-3 Litre for saturation. Does it need some more medication to get that level and can we bring him home? Hospital seems to be delaying things to extract continuous money. About his Spine condition, what else could happen? Could it be some simple inflammation as he never had any back pain before?

Yes if it is TB spine it is better to take conservative management at home, if provided all the other conditions improve. If treatment is taken properly for TB spine then no need to worry the condition will not become worse.

I am a dermatologist in Patna. My 5-month son had meningitis. Visited the child specialist and doctor did ct scan of brain and found hypoxic encephalopathy with mild cerebral edema and examination of csf gave the result of level of protien as 125 mgm%.that time blood examination gave result as - hemoglobin 64 %,leukocytes 12500/c.m.m, cpp positive. The main medicine and injection course was given as meropenem 210 mg, vancomycin 80 mg in 20 ml ns, levitractem,gardenal etc. This injection was given him for 15 + 21 days (the gap between these two continuous dose was 1 month). Some of my friends suggested me to visit neurologist/neuro physician. Please suggest me what should I do? I think he gets a problem in drinking milk and might be some other pain which family doctor is not able to get exact.

Hello my mother was having obstruction jaundice due to metastasis breast cancer so ptbd and then after a month starting was done in meanwhile interval ptbd culture report came and it was having klebsiella pneumoniae and pseudomonas spp they started with cefepime+ tazonactum antibiotic and now they are given same above mentioned antibiotic with ciplox but her fever is not going from last 5 days she is having low grade fever which reach up to 100 F at 5: 30 pm after starting antibiotic and putting wet cloth on her head it comes down to normal. There is nothing is her blood culture report. Please suggest anything so here fever goes away.

if you are taking ciprofloxacin 500 mg then take 1 hour before meals or 2 hours after meals with only water and not with milk for 15 days and check urine again to see pus cells have come down to 5 or less. Medications fine.
