Asked for female, 41 years old from Bangalore

I had a bad throat pain (no fever and cough) and went to ent. He told I had got a bad tonsils infection and asked me to take antibiotics through iv for three days and rest two days medicine. I got better but once my antibiotics got over again my pain came back and I checked my tonsils area looking little red again n two yellow spots have reoccurred. Should I continue the antibiotics for another 5 days. Kindly help as I don't want to go back to hospital in this situation. Thank you. Medicines I took. Iv for three days- cefuroxime and pantoprazole medicine for 2 days - cifran, pantodac and chymoral forte.

better plan a blood culture
and meanwhile begin with IV antibiotics again for at least 7 days, for twice a day
gargle with luke warm water
avoid all cold and sour foods
drink lot of water and warm fluids

My Son is suffering from Cervical lymphadenitis, since last one month. Culture test was positive for staphylococcus Aureus. He has been given antibiotics 1.augmentin 5 days. 2. Flucloxacillin 3 days 3. Cefuroxime. Ultrasound shows pus collection and doctors drained it and sent sample for biopsy. Here I would like to take experts advise, if I am on the right path. As still my son is having pus oozing out from the surgical area. Its now 5 days post surgery. Still there is pus and hardened area below the ear.(swollen lymph node) Doctor said initial culture tests are negative and other reports will take a month for the reports to come. Need expert advise on this.

I am a 56 year old female. I was diagnosed with endometrial cancer and underwent tah on january 21 this year, followed by vaginal brachytherapy on feb 25, march 4 and 11. My present problem is that I had vaginal discharge ( foul smelling ) since end march. My gynaecologist prescribed ceftum 500 - 2 tabs 5days and clinsup vaginal tablet 7days. I am still having occasional discharge, but no foul smell. Kindly advise what to do.

Hello Sir, My right testis pain. Ultra sound show that right sided eppididymo orchist. Right scrotal sac found mild fluid. And right testis artery diastolic flow is absence. My symptoms is vomiting. High fever and testis pain. I consult a surgeon doctor. He give ceftum 500 tab for 10 days and told me that more water drink. Its pain started 1 moth ago. But now not fully recover. I have elevated PSA 13.48 and my ultrasound shows enlarged prostate volume 31 cc grade I fatty liver prostatomegaly grade III prostatic calcification bladder thickness 3,2 MM non distended urine residual 73 cc and my urologist after prescribing ceftum dosage for one month is over has done DRE which showed PA soft NAD PR grI BPH Nodular? And then prescribed dutas T for three months follow up with PSA. I see from net that dutas T may cause prostate cancer. Kindly advise whether am I on right track of medication My age is 74 DR.

With high psa, tablets prescribed may give temporary relief for short time. It has no benefit for your case. Check for psa velocity. If it is more then have biopsy of prostate.

My mother 75 years old prediabetes and hypertensive has been scratched on her thigh by our cat .out cat is updated on her rabies vaccine. Though my mother has been fully immunised with arv previously, she has decided to take 3 booster arv shots on recommendation of the family pharmacist. On 5th feb she took 1st arv abhayrab and tt shot. Wound has been cleaned properly with water and soap and betadine. The pharmacist asked her to take ceftum 500 antibiotic one tablet for 6 days? Should the antibiotic be given to her?

Impression is post void residual urine 29 cc. Urine routine is normal. I completed ceftum250 mg 4 tablet and feronum200 mg 5 tablet. Now onabet b cream night and morning 4 days completed. Can I apply ky gel lubricant for 1 week. The symptoms (burning) didn't go away. I go for urine culture. My decision is correct please answer me.

Hi, the burning is due to the drying and thinning of vagina after menopause (vaginal atrophy). It can be treated with Premarin cream (contains hormone estrogen).You can apply 0.5g of the cream vaginally twice weekly for 12 weeks and repeat the cycle every 6 monthly.

My mother have left lung cystic fibrosis since 30 years & 4 months back she was treated with bronchial artery embolization for bloody sputum. Now she has mild throat pain since 20 days only in drinking water and swallowing saliva, but not in eating anything. She was diagnosed with granular pharyngitis, doctor gives different antibiotics moxclav / ceftum. But there is no change in her mild throat pain since 20 days. Ent Dr. Told there is no sign of cancer, but there are granules all over in neck. I want to know since already 20 days had passed, so how long will it take to recover from this throat pain.

Granules all over neck or throat? If throat, betadine mouth gargle might help her. She might also need a good course of antibiotics. But if granules on neck, please plan either fnac or biopsy.

Hello sir, I am 37 year male currently diagnosed as bi basal pneumonia. This was diagnosed based on chest x-ray. Symptoms: lot of cough, fever around 99-100 degrees (f) weight: 81 kg, ht-5.7 the physician has specified following medication tab ceftum 500 mg 1-0-1 syp ascoril sugar free, 5 ml 1-1-1 1 week tab deriphyllin retard 150 mg 0-0-1 8 days tab dolo 650 1 sos is this the correct medicine? How long does it take to recover fully. Kindly suggest any foods needs to be avoided and additional medication if needed. Thank you very much.

Antibiotics should be continued for 10-14 days depending upon your clinical condition. Bibasal pneumonia means involvement of both lungs. So treatment duration is more.
