Dear, psychiatric medications are not meant to get dependent on them. You may have got relief the first time in a month period and that is a good sign that your body had ability to recover fast. May be your anxiety was not complicated by factors which may be present now. This time if your anxiety is not getting controlled, its better either you visit another doctor or simply ask him to change medicines. If he doesn't do that, then its better you should try Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) this t...more

I hope that you have tried these antidepressants in maximum dose and also for at least 3-6 weeks duration. Treatment resistant depression has its own flow chart of add ons like thyroxine, samE, 5 HT and varied therapies. At times review of diagnosis, may be necessary. What antidepressant you are taking now? What is the dose? Since how long, you are on this dose?

ECTs are normally the last line of treatment. It sounds like you may have quite a serious condition. Sleep deprivation is quite common especially during the manic phase. You must make sure that you cooperate because many times you will not believe that there is something wrong and would love to quit the medication. Complying with all the medical prescriptions and working in tandem with a counselor for a long time and learning coping skills and techniques to handle the daily challenges the person...more

Neck PainThis is cervical pain (neck pain) and that's the reason the pain radiates until the shoulder blades. If you keep ice that would help and along side you can do hot water fermentation. You shall use cervical collar which would help you to reduce the radiating pain ie. Due to the nerve compression.

You should notice change after 4 to 6 weeks but full recovery may take months. After recovery you should continue to take medicines till your psychiatrist advises you to stop. Very commonly it is seen that patients stop treatment after remission and subsequently they relapse. These medicines are safe for long term use. Good luck.

Dear lybrate-user,
for long term mood stability, sometimes you may need many different tablet combinations. Try and report to your doctor after few weeks.
In psychiatry, there is no need of conducting 'tests' in your terms. The best test the psychiatrist conducts, is called as 'mental status examination'
diagnosis in psychiatry is mostly the symptom clusters and mental status examination.

You desperately need therapy. The challenges of everyday living pose a major stress to people and they learn to cope with it through various adaptations, techniques, and tools. In the case of the bipolar condition your adjustability is more difficult than the normal population. Apart from this there are many issues of the mind that medication cannot address, and these are ideally worked out in therapy. Please put yourself on a tight time-schedule with exercises, interesting activities, functiona...more
