Avoid day time sleep. Have Morning and evening walk at least for half an hour each time. Avoid alcohol and smoking if having means. Avoid spicy food during nights. Have one cup of milk one hour before bed. Don't watch TV before bed. Try to reduce stress. It is not advisable to have medication for insomnia. Consult personally if needed with an appointment.

Lithium is usually given in Bipolar disorder and in some psychiatric disorder like depression, psychosis etc as augmenting agent. But a specific blood level is required to produce its effect. Also you have to know about its toxicity. Drink plenty of water. Always ask doctors prior to taking other medication especially pain killers. Perform regular test for serum lithium level.
