Mr. lybrate-user , You have mentioned about the drugs being taken for diabetes, but no dosage. There is no mention about fasting, PP glucose level and HbA1c%, so it is not clear whether diabetes is well controlled at all. At your age it is very essential to achieve a very strict blood glucose control with fasting closer to 100 mg, PP 150 to 160 mg & HbA1c%<6.8. If not then you are inviting long term complications of diabetes much early. As regards dietary advice, unless all the details are known...more

Usually in newly detected diabetes I continue insulin injections minimum for three months till Hba1c is corrected to below 7% Then insulin injections are slowly discontinued and started ion oral hypoglycemic agents. This way minimum drugs are required to control blood sugars and in 3 months patient learn proper lifestyle modification with diet and exercise. In over weight patients I encourage weight reduction this again ensures minimum drugs for diabetes control.

Dear gyanmala lybrate-user,
it seems like secondary drug failure of diabetes medicine. You need to work on detailed diabetes management that includes diet and exercise also. As long as sugar levels are concerned it is advisable you to add insulin therapy at present as sugar levels are way above normal readings. Weakness you are having is possibly due to high blood sugars.
You can contact me on this platform for detailed consultation.
Take care.

It is quite good. Do not worry, it is not about perfect control. You have to look at the the average ( ref - HbA1c ) and enjoy normal life. Being active and eating healthy food ( eat more of healthy and nutritious food - and add variety ! ). Learn about healthy lifestyle changes and adapt a holistic approach to strike a balance. You can also add Yoga which can help you stay focused and relaxed at the same time. You shall imporve much more with more patience and understanding.

Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query.
When one is on treatment for diabetes with appropriate medication, plus taking proper diet and doing regular exercises, blood glucose should be maintained as follows: fasting < 100 mg, PP 150 to 160 mg & HbA1c% <6.8. Considering those standards, your blood glucose levels are still not well controlled. Thre is need to give a closer look at the treatment, exercise and diet too. Thanks.
