Lescol Tablet Xl is used to bring the cholesterol level under control and increasing the quantity of good cholesterol also called high-density lipoprotein (HDL). It also normalises the level of triglycerides. The medicine is prescribed along with a suitable diet chart that helps to prevent the manufacturing of fatty substances in the body that can accumulate and cause heart blockages, hardening of arteries or veins. This in turn helps to prevent ischemic strokes or cardiac failure and keeps the heart functioning properly. The medicine can also be prescribed for some other purposes as per the discretion of your doctor. The medicine is available in a capsule form for oral intake, with or without food, as directed by your physician.

During the course of the treatment, you must abstain from the intake of alcohol, caffeine, smoking or tobacco. The medicine may affect the blood sugar level in diabetic patients. Therefore the blood sugar level must be monitored closely when you are taking this medicine. There may be some liver disorders as a side effect of this drug. You must consult your doctor if you experience severe nausea, vomiting, dizziness, abdominal pain, problems in passing stool or urine, yellowing of the skin or feeling unusually fatigued.

Age related memory loss As everyone gets older it becomes more difficult to remember things, especially if one is getting over 60 years of age. This is because like other parts of the body, the brain also changes with age. How? Here’s how. Parts of the brain that handle cognitive functions, learning, memory, and planning shrink with age. Neurons (nerve cells) in the brain stop communicating efficiently. This is of course a gradual process. Arteries narrow with age and new blood vessels stop forming, so less blood reaches the brain thus slowing down its activity. Plaques may form that block communication between the neurons. Inflammation in the brain increases. Damage by free radicals increase as the brain ages. However, recent studies have indicated that the aging brain actually improves in certain areas such as vocabulary and other verbal forms. Another interesting finding is that the brain continues to develop new neurons even late in life. So essential communications can still be maintained through these neurons. Mild cognitive impairment Other common causes of memory loss include – Depression: Some people with depression may have slowed down thinking and mental abilities. Dear,you need to reduce the cholesterol levels. High cholesterol (hypercholesterolemia) what is hypercholesterolemia? hypercholesterolemia is a condition in which the level of cholesterol in your blood is high. When you have too much cholesterol, deposits of fat in the blood called plaque form inside blood vessel walls. The blood vessel walls thicken and become narrower (a condition called atherosclerosis). This change in the blood vessels reduces blood flow through the blood vessels, increasing your risk of heart disease and possibly leading to heart attacks or strokes. Cholesterol is a naturally occurring fatty substance. Your body needs small amounts of cholesterol to make and maintain nerve cells and to produce hormones. Most of the cholesterol in your blood is made by your liver from the fats, carbohydrates, and proteins you eat. You also get cholesterol by eating animal products such as meat, eggs, and dairy products. The two most important components of cholesterol are ldl (low-density lipoprotein) and hdl (high-density lipoprotein). Ldl and hdl carry cholesterol through your blood. Ldls carry a lot of cholesterol, leave behind fatty deposits on your artery walls, and contribute to heart disease. Hdls do the opposite. They clean the artery walls and remove extra cholesterol from the body, thus lowering the risk of heart disease. Ldl is called" bad" cholesterol. (you can think of" l" for" lousy" cholesterol.) hdl is called" good" cholesterol (think of" h" for" healthy" cholesterol). It is good to have low levels of ldl and high levels of hdl. How does high cholesterol occur? the main cause of high cholesterol is eating foods that are high in saturated fat or cholesterol. How is it diagnosed? you will have blood tests to check your cholesterol level. These lab tests usually measure your total cholesterol level as well as the levels of low-density lipoprotein (ldl), high-density lipoprotein (hdl), and triglycerides. You may need to fast before your blood test. This means you do not eat or drink anything except water for 12 hours before the test. Your health care provider may give you a physical exam. He or she may ask about your diet and diseases and health problems in your family. How is it treated? the goal of most cholesterol treatment is to decrease the ldl in your blood and to raise the hdl. For every 1% decrease in cholesterol level, your risk of heart disease is reduced 2%. A diet high in fiber and low in total fat, saturated fat, and cholesterol can help to lower cholesterol levels. You should also exercise as recommended by your health care provider. If diet and exercise are not enough to reduce your cholesterol level, your health care provider may prescribe drugs. I have undergone a mvp surgery, I do have cholestrol ( boderline) & thyroid. I do take thyronorm 75mgi/100mgi alternate days & daily. I do drink once or twice a week. Please Advice how do I control cholesterol & thyroid? Please Advice.

Continue thyronorm and recheck serum tsh after 3-4 weeks, adjust dose accordingly, after it stabilizes, we can do thyroid test every 3month, 6 month, annually etc. For cholesterol, first let us know report. Your weight?
