Dear Asha,
Good that you took care of your ailing mom normally and responsibly. It is because you were not depressed during that period.
Lamitor is a mood stabiliser to prevent your recurrent depressive episodes. 100 mg has done its work, i suppose.
Now why do you want to reduce the dose? For side effect or you can not afford the cost?
If so, be prepared to get another episode of depression and make arrangements to bring you into treatment before you become suicidal or deluded....more

Dear lybrate-user,
lamictal is a mood stabiliser and it prevents recurrent episodes of low mood in the long run.
To lift your mood further, paroxetine and therapy will help. There are few add on supplements too, like same, 5ht, thyroxine, vitamin d, ect. Please discuss your mood and memory problems with your psychiatrist.

In case of epilepsy since you are on meds for 3 years, if the seizures are completely controlled and eeg is normal, a trial of gradual taper of medicines can be given. But always taper medicines after consulting your neurologist. And there is always a chance of recurrence so that risk has to be borne in mind.

Lamotrigine is not a primary antidepressant, but a weak mood stabiliser. So if the symptoms are still present consult any psychiatrist in person or online and get a primary antidepressant. All the best.

Dear lybrate-user,
please visit your doctor often and discuss the changes you need to make. Both lamotrigine and fludac will be increased according to the assessment on that visit. In bipolar disorder. The mood changes from low to normal and high. At times, even mixed phase will be there. Accordingly the fludac will be increased or stopped, an anti-psychotic may be added for short term. Lamotrigine will be continuous for all phases of mood.
