elevated crp indicates inflammation in the body. Long term inflammation might be due to rheumatoid arthritis, autoimmune conditions, infections, etc. Also increases the risk of heart disease, diabetes in the long term.

Looks like that this is the first time diabetes is diagnosed. First thing apart from medication is that she should control her diet and do some physical activity. She has to reduce weight as part of diabetic management. Insulin will give quicker response but oral medicines will take time. Wait for a week ,check the sugar again and consult doctor to adjust the dose.
