This is dawn phenomenon. Or it could be somogi effect. Get blood sugar tests between 2 to 4 am if low it's somogi otherwise it's dawn phenomenon take 2 biscuits marie at midnight and see results after 2 weeks. Do brisk walk early morning on getting up before doing blood sugar fasting test. Consult again.

I recommend to control your sugar level 1) a healthy and well balanced diet having regular meals. Divide your meals into 5 to 6 times.
2) one teaspoon of methi seeds soaked overnight in 100 ml of water is very effective in controlling diabetes
3) good fats such as omega-3 and monounsaturated fats (mufa) should be consumed as they are good for the body.

Kidney damage can be prevented by maintaining good blood sugar and BP control. Apart from medications for diabetes and bp you should follow strict Diabetic diet, avoid oily, fatty and fried items with regular physical activity. Monitor your blood sugar and BP and serum creatinine regularly accordingly medications will be recommended. All the best.
