Both the products are same. The er refers to extended release, which means the drug is released slowly over 12 hours in the gut. That helps maintain a longer therapeutic level. It is beneficial more so if a person has any side effects like gastrointestinal disturbances if plain metformin is taken. Both are fine. Thanks.

The glucose levels mentioned (both fasting & pp) are quite fine, considering your age. It would have been better if you had mentioned current or latest hba1c%, that would have clarified it better. As regards changes suggested by your doctor of adding tenelegliptin and metformin for better control, I really do not see any requirement. Your fasting glucose can be reduced by even a slight alteration of your night time food intake and increasing the level of physical...more
