Mr. lybrate-user, thanks for the query.
I have seen the details given. There is no mention of his age, hba1c%, dietary pattern and extent of exercise being done by the patient. Before any suggestion can be made I need to know all the above plus bp readings, lipid profile, serum creatinine and urea.
Usually once steroids are stopped, glucose levels which very very high due to that are likely to be comparatively better controlled. But it does take a few days. Stopping insulin suddenly is n...more

I would recommend you to consult an endocrinologist and change your insulin from a premixed one to an analog mix like ryzodeg. However given the long-standing diabetes you are having I would suggest you to be on a basal bolus regimen which involves using two different insulins, in short two pens which will provide you finer control and better flexibility.

4. What is your sleep quality like?
5. Are you eating junk and processed foods? an insight into these would then enable us to understand strategies that ought to be implied for successful, long-term blood sugar control. Hop...more

Yes, your result is normal. You show no insulin resistance if your blood code reveals: fasting glucose is between 75–95 mg/dl (4.2–5.3 mmol/l)..fasting insulin is between 3–8 uiu/ml (18–48 pmol/l). Hgba1c level is less than 5.6% (<37 mmol/mol).

Lybrate-userji, it appears you have t1 diabetes, (if the age is 14 years), in that case only drug that can be used to control blood glucose is insulin injection. No other drugs are given for t1 diabetes patients. You need to increase the dose of insulin injections both in the morning and night.
