120 and pp values go above 200, reduce the quantity of carbohydrate (rice, wheat, rava, maida) in each meal and increase the quantity of protein (dhal, soya, egg white, fish or chicken. Monitor blood sugars with glucometer as follows. Fasting and pp on wednesday and 2 hour after lunch and after dinner on sunday and maintain a record. If in spite of dietary adjustment you sugar levels continue to be high and if your hba1c is more than 8 % seek a consultation to adjust your anti-diabetic drugs

Dear lybrate-user I can understand your situation 4 times a prick will be very painful, I really need few more blood sugars levels so that I can actually help you. And keeping your age and long standing diabetes we do have better insulin which will help reduce blood sugars, with no hypoglycemia.

Hello, Thanks for the query.
I have seen the details given. With HbA1c% 9.4 % it is clear that your blood glucose is not at all well controlled. Ideally in a well controlled person fasting glucose should be < 100 mg or closer t 100 mg, PP 150 to 180 mg & HbA1c% < 7%.
It means there is a need to give a closer look at your diet and exercise. Because you are already on quite a few drugs including Insulin. There is a need to restrict the dietary intake and also increase extent of daily ex...more

Hello, Thanks for the query.
From the given information he is already on plenty of medications. A slight adjustment in Insulin dosage (increase by 2 units) and / or dietary adjustment would be more appropriate than adding any further drugs. What is fasting glucose as well as HbA1c%? At his age there is really no need for very strict glucose control. Thanks.

Hello, Thanks for the query As you are on certain drugs your body gets adapted to those compounds. Therefore, some times the change in compound between similar drugs may nt give desired results. Trigenta is Linagliptin and Januvita is Sitagliptin, even though both have similar action, dosage is different. So there is a possibilty of different response. Results may improve over a period. You might ask your physician about it. There are still better options for stricter control like GLP! analogues...more

Dear Lybrate user it is good to see such a good control with a1c of 6.6. First of pls observe if you have got any low sugars as 67 suggests that you are having low sugars. Any sugar reading may rise after a lowsugar. Coming to your urine sugar 4 + pls do not worry about it .your tablet prominad that is pushing your excess sugar out through your urine and it is normal when you are taking that tablet. I wud suggest you to get your fasting and post prandial blood sugars once as you have not mention...more
