1. Do warm saline gurgling 3-4 times daily
2. Take viscodyne d syrup 2tsf thrice daily if it is a dry cough or viscodyne syrup if cough is associated with sputum
3. You may have to take antibiotic along with it after consulting doctor, if no relief4. Avoid smoking if you smoke.

Firstly there's no lifelong cure for the common cold. Antibiotics are only effective against infections of throat and are of no use against cold viruses. Hello Lybrate-User,
You could use piriton cs if it's only dry cough that is with out any sputum. You can give 5 ml syrup 2 times a day. If there is sputum then you can give chericof ls. Alex syrup contains antibiotics so you have to give it only under doctors advise. You can consult me privately so that I can know more about your daughters symptoms like if there is sputum/ balgam, if there is redness in the throat, sneezing and cold, fever etc.
