lybrate-user, thanks for the query.
For a person with diabetes it is very important to keep the blood glucose in strict control, otherwise, the long term complications associated with diabetes affecting eyes (retina), kidneys, lower limbs, peripheral nerves and heart can occur more rapidly. Ideally fasting glucose should be < 100 mg, PP 160 to 70 mg & HbA1c% <7.
Missing a single dose of Voglibose does not cause any problem. Voglibose is to be taken either with meal or just after it. Sinc...more

Hello, Thanks for the query.
Since your glucose is quite well controlled and HbA1c% is 5.9 %, I do not see the reason for changing the treatment. In fact if diet is controlled by reducing a bit of carb intake, you will be able to achieve still better control. Even increasing physical activity would be more beneficial than adding any further drug. Tanks.

Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query.
It appears you are on a fairly high dose of Glimepiride. Metformin (2000 mg) is also fairly high. Usually Glimepiride should not be used more than 4 mg in a day. Even though recommended upper limit is 8 mg, conventionally using more than 4 mg is not advised. Since there is no mention of actual glucose levels (fasting, PP and HbA1c%), there is no way to know how good is the control. Hello, Vivek, Thanks for the query.
I have seen the details given. From that it is clear that she is on multiple medications. However, there is no mention of herHbA1c%, weight, extent of physical activity, particularly exercises like brisk walking or any other activity plus dietary pattern . It is very essential to concentrate on following aspects - 1) weight control (BMI <23 kgs/Sq meter), 2) Taking a healthy balanced diet like - increased intake of green leafy vegetables, salads and certai...more

Hello,
Thanks for your query on Lybrate
"As" per your clinical history is concerned please discuss with your family doctor about the nature of your disease [Type 1 and Type 2], if type 2 then you can take medication as mentioned and if type 1 then you can take insulin regularly. In any case sugar level, 312 is very high at your age and it can deteriorate your heart further.
Hope that helps
