Pcod is a treatable not a curable disease. Hence it's better to continue with metformin as much as possible to keep it in control. There are no severe side effects nor does it affect children. Along with the metformin, I would also recommend a healthy lifestyle and diet and also getting your thyroid levels checked.

Yes, there are alternatives to metformin. You need to talk to your doctor about intolerance to metformin and he or she can prescribe other medications.

Hello, thanks for the query.
There is no difference in terms of drug action with either of these tablets. It is just the different name given by each company. Thanks.

Try changing the brand of metformin. Sometimes some formulation can lead to stomach upset. You don’t seem metformin intolerant, as you were tolerating janumet. You may get relief after changing the brand. Also I will suggest taking a deworming tablet.

Dipti ji, Thanks for the query.
Please tell me why are you on Metformin 850 mg? Because usually there is no drug needed to treat pre-diabetes. Since there are no relevant details given like lipid levels, glucose levels, HbA1c% & BP readings. There is no way to comment. Thanks.

Hello, thanks for the query.
I have seen the details given. In pcod metformin is used as a treatment quite often. It does help in regularisation and ovulation. Plus the other drug given is a synthetic progestin, also used for regularisation of cycles. Both can be used. Thanks.

Hello,
In gestational diabetes your aim should be to keep fasting blood sugar less than 95 and postprandial blood sugar less than 120. It's important that along with drug treatment you practice medical nutrition therapy which includes calorie restriction, taking small meals at frequent intervals and 10 min walk after lunch and dinner along with light intensity exercises.
Yes, drug treatment with metformin (glycomet) is safe and can be continued. However if treatment with metformin does n...more

You have not mentioned your blood sugar fasting, pp and hba1c report.
It is better to start with first one as it contains two medicines and second contsins three. Monitor blood sugar and keep in touch with your doctor.
