Hello, Thanks for the query.
Most of the drugs used in treating diabetes are fairly safe, on all vital organs including kidneys. Certain drugs are not recommended if the kidneys are already affected due to long standing diabetes and eGFR is low (<30 ml/minute). Thanks.

Mr. lybrate-user, thanks for the query.
I have seen the query. The information is not enough to give any specific suggestion. I need to know following details :exact fasting, pp glucose, hba1c%, dietary pattern, extent of exercises being done daily, lipid profile, bp readings, serum creatinine and urea. Without all the details, it is not possible to give any specific suggestions.

Hello, thanks for the query.
I have seen the query and understand your concern. However, there is no mention of blood glucose levels (fasting & pp), hba1c%, your weight, height, dietary pattern and extent of daily exercise and lipid profile as well as bp readings. All these details are needed before any advise can be given. Action of glimiperide and metformin is different. The need for the patient depends on the severity of glucose levels. If you are looking for a less priced glimiperide the...more

lybrate-user ji, Thanks for the query.
Fasting glucose 300 mg is too high. In this situation only Glimiperide 1 mg (Amaryl 1) is unlikely to be adequate. Even the other tablet Zoryl 1 mg is same. His treatment needs to be upgraded right away, by adding some appropriate drugs. Since there is no mention of any other relevant details it is difficult to advise.
It is better to contact your diabetologist and get the treatment upgraded. Or else please come back with following details" current ...more

Hello, thanks for the query.
I have seen the details mentioned. Developing hypoglycemia in a patient with conventional insulin is fairly common seen problem. Plus if patient is also on glimiperide in addition to insulin, then there are greater chances. Since she was on 40 you + 28 u) two doses of insulin with 8 mg of glimiperide, the possibility was more.
Usually giving more than 4 mg of glimiperide a day does not really help. However, she was on 8 mg, which is too high. In addition ther...more

Are not satisfied with result? What is your FBS PP2BS and HbA1C report for last two years. Is it not well controlled?
None can and should comment on such silly question. 'I eat rice daily' can you really comment on this statement?
