Hello Coversyl plus is for your blood pressure and has no effects on your triglycerides. Triglycerides per say individually is a risk factor for future heart problem, stroke, pancreatic and should be treated. My recommendation would be 1) you should lose some weight as according to your height, you are 8-10 kgs overweight 2) diet would be the key, though you would know the do's /don't, smaller meals 4-5 times will help i'm decreasing triglycerides. 3) supplement like omega 3 fatty acid 1-2 gm a ...more

lybrate-user, Thanks for the query
It is very essential to achieve a strict blood glucose control with fasting < 100 mg, PP 150 to 170 mg & HbA1c% < 6.8. Plus do regular exercise and take a healthy diet, avoid saturated fats and and maintain normal weight. There is no specific treatment for fatty liver. Even TGL can be controlled with diet and exercise. If need be Fenofibrate may be taken. Thanks.

Mr. Lybrate-user, if triglyceride level comes to normal you can stop fenofibrate. Statin may be continued. Looking at height and weight it is clear that you are over weight with a bmi of 29.43 kgs/m2, very close to being classified as grade 1 obesity. This has to be reduced considerably. (normal bmi <23 kgs/m2). Your ideal body weight has to be around 47 kgs. Weight reduction will help in bringing down triglycerides to normal. You have not mentioned about current sugar levels and hba1c%. Ideally...more

Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query.
For your lipids you may need just a statin like Rosuvastatin 5 mg. There is absolutely no need for fenofibrate, (F) as TGL value is just 197 mg. Unless TGL go beyond 500 mg there is no need to worry about. Properly balanced healthy diet plus regular exercise will be more than sufficient. Thanks.

Thank you for the query
firstly I would like to know whether you have any comorbidities like diabetes, hypertension or thyroid problems. I shall answer your question in points. 1. A total cholesterol of 387 mg% is very high. It should preferably be below 200 mg%, if not lesser. The ldl component should be ideally below 100 mg% (though 120 mg% is acceptable). You need to start on the statin group of drugs as soon as possible.
2. A tg level of the 1767 mg% is risky not only for the cardiov...more

Calculating serum levels. Add your HDL and LDL cholesterol levels, plus 20 percent of your triglycerides, to calculate your serum cholesterol levels. If you have an LDL of 150 mg/dL, HDL of 35 mg/dL, and triglycerides of 180 mg/dL, your serum cholesterol would be 221 mg/dL. That's considered a borderline high level.

Cholesterol levels for adults. Total cholesterol levels less than 200 milligrams per deciliter (mg/dL) are considered desirable for adults. A reading between 200 and 239 mg/...more
