Both of them have the similar chemical compound .after starting the substitution medication you can recheck the blood sugar after 1 week .If stable you can continue with substitution medication.

Overdose of this medicine can cause hypoglycemia and in this situation blood sugar needs frequent monitoring and for prevetion of fall of blood sugar take sugar and sweets accordingly.

Hello Mr. Lybrate-user with diabetes you are not supposed to take direct sugar or sweets as that will cause almost immediate increase in blood glucose level. All the food stuffs that we consume like whole grain /pulses products rice, roti, chapati, roti, potato, sweet potato and many other cereals, everything is converted to glucose only as complex starch present in all of these. You are suffering from Type 2 Diabetes.

If you are on insulin it is better to increase the dose of insulin if blood sugar is not controlled. If at all you want to add oral medicine metformin will be a better choice.
