Always take medications as prescribed by your doctor. Do not adjust the dosage or frequency without consulting them, follow their instructions on when and how to take it during a panic attack. It's important to discuss with your doctor how long you should use these medications and whether there are plans for tapering off.

It is advisable to take the medicine as prescribed by your treating doctor as the treating doctor has assessed your condition face to face. But, also try considering non pharmacological means like some counseling sessions which would help you control your anxiety on long run, which would further enhance your confidence levels. Your doubts are genuine as the medicine has addiction potential when used more than 4 weeks. So,again discuss the same issue with your treating doctor.

Dear Yasha,
Both clonazepam and etizolam are NOT medicines for OCD. They belong to benzodiazepine group of anxiolytics. You don't gain weight by these medicines, if you maintain the usual diet and exercise schedule.

Hi Lybrate user,
Although antianxiety medications like etizzolam can be taken. But they have a propensity to cause dependence and more so ever are not the first line treatment for anxiety. It would be better to consult a psychiatrist and start an antidepressant and or psychotherapy so that antianxiety medications are not needed on a regular basis.
