Dear Lybrate-User,
Please consult the psychiatrist who prescribed it to you. If it is with suicidal intent, she/he may add another drug/ect/therapy/admission to hospital. If it is impulsive, she/he may discuss this issue in therapy. Observe yourself, if any symptoms come up, go to the hospital for symptomatic treatment.

Since you are already on medication I suggest you talk to your treating Psychiatrist and convey your current symptoms to them. It is possible that some changes in medication dosages will help improve the symptoms. As they are familiar with your history it is always better to have a discussion with them regarding this situation.

5 years means persistent depression (long term depression), so most likely life long treatment. Prepare your mind for this. It is like treating diabetes or hypertension, so don't worry. But meet your psychiatrist regularly and don't take these over the counter/ self medication, as they need monitoring and regular blood testing to find if there are any untoward effects. All the best.

It is ill-advised to do anything with regulating your medication without the doctor's recommendation. However, I am of the opinion that you seek the help of a counselor and develop some skills and techniques to counter the anxiety and ocd. This is a fear-based condition and for some reason you have not been dealing with a childhood fear which has now developed unto these repetitive adaptations to seem to need it for normal functioning. The behavior will then become based on magical thinking and ...more
