About Elpred Forte 15Mg Syrup

Elpred syrup is a corticosteroid that helps to prevent the release of some substances in the body that lead to inflammation. This drug helps in the treatment of a number of conditions like skin problems, asthma, arthritis, breathing disorders, psoriasis, lupus and allergic reactions.

Make sure to discuss your medical history, including any allergies or health issues that you suffer from with your doctor. Let him know if you have cirrhosis, diabetes, thyroid issues, kidney disease, depression, hypertension, heart problems or muscle disorders. The doctor will then determine this medication is safe for your body and will prescribe a calculated dose.

This syrup should be taken as per instructions on the prescription. Do not take a lower or higher dose without consulting your doctor. Initially the doctor may start the drug with a low dosage and then prescribe higher doses depending on your health and your body’s reaction to the drug.       • Interaction with Medicine

        Ethinyl Estradiol

        Use with caution as this combination will increase the concentration of Elpred Forte 15Mg Syrup. Inform the doctor if you are taking either of the medicines. Consider an alternative medicine or dose adjustments after consulting your doctor.

        Azole antifungal agents

        Use of ketoconazole and itraconazole should be avoided as these medicines may increase the concentration of Elpred Forte 15Mg Syrup in the body which may cause swelling, high blood glucose, weight gain, and growth abnormalities in the children. Dose adjustments or an alternative medicine should be considered based on the clinical condition.

        Antihypertensives

        Use with caution as this combination will decrease the concentration of Antihypertensives. This interaction is more likely to occur if Elpred Forte 15Mg Syrup is taken for more than a week. Inform the doctor if you are taking either of the medicines. Consider an alternative medicine or dose adjustments after consulting your doctor.

        Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs

        Use with caution as this combination will increase the risk of gastrointestinal bleeding. Inform the doctor if you are taking either of the medicines. Consider taking alternative medicine after consulting your doctor.

        Fluoroquinolone

        You may experience pain, swelling, or inflammation in ankle, shoulder, hand, or thumb if these medicines are used together. This interaction is more likely to occur in elderly population who have undergone a kidney or heart transplantation. Replacement of the medicine should be made under the doctor's supervision.
      • Interaction with Disease

        Gastrointestinal Bleeding

        It is used with caution in the patients with gastrointestinal diseases. The risk of bleeding is more when taken for a long duration of time. Dose adjustments are to be made based on the clinical condition.

        Diabetes

        This syrup is used with caution in the patients with diabetes as it increases the blood glucose levels. Regular monitoring of blood glucose levels is necessary. A suitable antidiabetic agent should be prescribed based on the clinical condition.
