your doctor gave him medicine which prevents from blood clotting like thombosis.may be according to him cut is not severe,so keep extra care on wound and if his wound is not severe it will okey within 7day or more but if you didn't see any kind of improvement then better go back to your doctor.

Spiranolactone/ bisoprolol / apixaban all medicines seems to be started for valid indications.
Spiranolactone may cause alopecia (hair loss) and also insomnia (sleep disturbance)
bisoprolol and apixaban are very very less likely to result in the said adverse effect.
Would like to know from you when was your dvt diagnosed and how long have you took apixaban and at what dose, was any scan done after 3 or 6 month interval to find residual dvt if any, and what was the cause for your dvt ...more

The other substitutes which you are talking about are called NOACS : novel oral anticoagulants! Like dabigatran , apixaban etc Which do not need any INR monitoring and are better than acitrom in terms of bleeding .. but sadly they are not indicated in your case / or any pt who has an metallic valve replacement or rheumatic disease.. so follow your doctors advice !
