I did my routine annual health check last week and the results are Urea 42 M/DL, creatinine 0.5, Uric acid 3.7, Calcium 8.5, Phosphorus 4.6, ALP 99, total Protien 6.3,Albumin 3.3, Sodium 138.2, Potassium 4.17, Chloride 107.2, hemoglobin is 9 and GGTP 19. My Liver function test values are within normal except Bilirubin Direct 0.4. I have Benign prostatic hyperplasia and I am taking Tamsulosin (0.4 mg, Dutasteride (0.5 mg) from last 9 months. I go to toilet at least 7-8 times in 24 hours. What could be the cause of elevated urea in blood.

you have anemia definitely and need iron tablets and elevated urea canbe due to the tablet or slowing of kidney function In general, around 7 to 20 mg/dL (2.5 to 7.1 mmol/L) is considered normal. But normal ranges may vary, depending on the reference range used by the lab, and your age. Ask your doctor to explain your results. Urea nitrogen levels tend to increase with age.

I want to reduce my testosterone levels to very low levels from 0 to 10 percent of normal testosterone levels in order to treat hair loss. I know about all the alternative treatments and decided that lowering testosterone is the best for me. What drugs can I use for reducing testosterone? Can I maintain some low level of testosterone (like 10% or a little above that) without it being converted to dht? Or I will need to add some dht inhibitor like finasteride or dutasteride? Can I still be fertile while on very low level of testosterone? How do I deal with low fertility after reducing testosterone to extremely low levels? Gonadotropin injections can help? There will be something left from my facial hair or it will be totally gone soon after I have very little to no testosterone? I will still have some facial hair with something like 10% of my testosterone.

I am 67 years old prostate enlargement is 142, grms,on ultra sound, I have stopped eat meat or pottery stuff totally on vegetables, will this help I get up twice for urine, taking maxflow. 0.4 mg at night, as well saw palmetto cap one daily 650 mg herbal supplement, how long I can pull on? I don't want to go for TRUMP surgery, please advise any other way to have easy urine flow, please advise me may god bless you. Thanks.

Since your prostate is grossly enlarged you need to add dutasteride also. You can take silodal d once daily in stead of plain maxflow. Dutasteride decrease the size of prostate.

I am 39 years old from Hyderabad. I am hale and hearty. I have allergic bronchitis, but currently on no medications. I have only one major problem that I have androgenic alopecia in the center of the head from back. Long back in 2001 I used Minoxidil. Did not observe whether it helped or not. Recently I have heard about Finasteride (Works on Type 2) and Dutasteride (Works on Type 1 & 2), a inhibitor of 5?-reductase enzyme which inhibits converting excess testosterone to dihydrotestosterone) which is primarily treated for BPH & secondarily treated for Hair Loss. I have done enough research on this. I do not know whether I have prostate enlargement or not. No pain surrounding pubic area, but when I do flatus sometime little drops of urine come when bladder is full. I have also read about its sexual side effects and its half life (traces in blood for nearly 6 mths even after stopping). I firmly believe that anything overdose leads to its side effects. Can I use this drug? I am planning to use 0.5 mg every five days so that it will be 0.1 mg every day. If I can use how long should I use?

Hello. Please do not use any medicinal tablets on your own. Please see a dermatologist for the same. Minoxidil solution helps in androgenetic Alopecia. You can use MorrF lotion 5% 1 ml twice a day for 3-6 months minimum to appreciate visible improvement.

I am suffering from seborrheic dermatitis (at least the doctors say that.) I have itchy scalp. Hair falls out (healthy ,thick hair). Some times with white flakes at the roots. I have had medications like ketoconazole, biotin and folic acid tablets, potent corticosteroids like beclometasone ,dutasteride, zinc acetate tablets also, aloe vera, moisturizers, nizoral shampoo, apple cider. Yeast free diet and anti inflammatory diet. Tried shaving off my head couple of times too. Nothing worked. I want to know the reason, why arent, my medications working. Is it something else similar too sd. Is it due to food intolerance? Scalp turns red. Itching, healthy hair falls out. Inflammation (mild). Rarely it cures itself for a day or some hours completely. Like once in two months. And my hair is too dull. And frizzy, and completely lifeless. Suggest me something.

I am 59 years old. For last few years having symptoms of increased urine frequency, occasional severe burning and nocturia. Not on any medicines except for allergic rhinitis. Doing yoga and meditation since 20 yrs. 1 and half month back had fever, git upset and increased burning in urine. Urine r/e .2 to 3 pus cells and urine culture negative. Blood crp 125. Did not get rtpcr for covid. Ultrasound shows bph gade 1.prostate 28gms and pvruv 52 ml out of 98 as pre void volume. Already treated and now better. Started on cap prostina once od and urikind twice daily and silodosin plus dutasteride combination since 15 days. How much time will it take for bph to come to normal. Already stopped tea, milk, saturated fats, citrous fruits. What should I do next.

It may take a few months for the prostate size to decrease. Till then continue taking symptomatic treatment as you already are. Follow up regularly with your doctor to check for prostate size and any changes.

One week back there was pain while urinating and next day stopped urine. After three days (i am given to understand I should not have waited for three days) went to hospital and removed the urine inserting catheter. sonography done, enlarged prostate in size 5.5 x 4.1 x 3.7 cms. 44 cc. 2017 sonography 4.3 x 3.4 x 3.5. They have advised me to go for operation. But the question is, is it necessary? Most of the people after the age of 60 have enlarged prostrate. Was it not possible that I had some temporary inflammation or stiffness in urinary organs and urine stopped? Is enlarged prostate of the size mentioned require operation? As it stands they have prescribed urimax d (tamsulosin hydrochloride & dutasteride )tablets. They warned me not to remove catheter unless I am operated. I am walking around with catheter. Your valuable advice please.

you can try removing cather after a week of therapy. if you pass urine normally after catheter removal then continue medicine, if you have difficulty while passing urine then you need surgery.

I am 62+ years suffering from grade 3 prostatomegaly where as per USG of whole abdomen revealed that urinary bladder is distended, wall thickness appears normal. No intraluminal pathology (calculi/mass) is seen. No significant residual urine is seen in post void study. Prostate is grossly enlarged in size. Echo- texture appears within normal limits. No detectable focal lesion is seen. It measures 5.1 cm X 5.0 cm X 4.6 cm. It weights = 64 gms (approx). No detectable lymphadenopathy, localised collection or ascites is seen in the abdomen and pelvis. Lower pleural spaces appear clear. Serum PSA test scores at 0.969 ng/ml with respect to the Biological Reference Interval for 60-70 years: 1.65-4.1. Uroflometry test reports an average flow rate of 17 ml/sec with no hesitancy. Urine RE and Culture found no evidence of abnormalities. I am advised to take one duprost .5/dutas .5 mg after breakfast and one urimax D at bedtime for six months by an Urologist and will be reviewed thereafter followed by USG of KUB and Serum PSA test. Also I am advised to take one each of Glyciphage G1 before breakfast and dinner, Telsartan AM and Febutaz 40 after breakfast for one month. I want to know whether the uro medicines will cure my issues related to enlargement of prostate or I will have to take homeopathic medicines in this regard?

Hi. My grandfather faced urinal retention problem due to enlarged prostate and undergone TURP surgery in 2012. Again after two and half years that is on November 2015 he faced same problem. Unable to urinate and hence consulted the surgeon. He prescribed few medicines and asked us to do ultrasound scan of abdomen and also asked us take MRI. Later doctor suggested us to follow the medications incase if the same problem occurs he said surgery has to be done again. For three years my Grandfather was normal. Now again today 19th November 2018 he was not able to urinate so we have to put catheter to him and consulted the same surgeon. He said prostate has grown big and surgery has to be done and did ultrasound where the prostate size was 4.86.24.8 and 75 cc. Doctor prescribed few medicines and telling second surgery is required. Right now my grandfather is having catheter and through that only he is emptying urine. Please suggest best options. Is it ok to do the TURP operation again for second time.

You give him Dutas T for few days and then remove Cathe Ter after one week. If he voids ok after removal then continue that medicine forever. If he again go onto retention then get surgery done.
