Dear Lybrate user
nexito forte is given for anxiety disorders. You have not mentioned whethet this medicine has been prescribed by a psychiatrist or you are taking on your own. So now, as you had written that you have been taking it for last 3 yrs, you can't stop it just like that suddenly. You will have withdrawal symptoms. You need to consult the doctor, don't stop on your own. You need to reduce the dose slowly and then it can be stopped gradually but that also with the help of the doctor...more

We are glad to know that you are currently on medications for depression and anxiety. I believe you have spoken with your prescribing psychiatrist about the medications and subsequently have anxiety about one of them after looking them up on the internet. I would like to let you know that clonazepam is a long acting benzodiazepine anti anxiety medication which has the least amount of addictive potential and is very potent in terms of relief of anxiety symptoms. You will need to visit a Psychiatrist for assessment of the need for taking clonazepam, since benzodiazepenes are generally tapered off in 6-8 weeks.

This medicine needs to be monitored at least every 3 months, kindly consult any astute psychiatrist online or nearby and get evaluated. Annual blood tests need to be taken, clonazepam after some time should be attempted for tapering and stopping, etc. Good luck.

YOu can stop it as you have done and Stalopam Plus Tablet is a combination of two medicines: Clonazepam and escitalopram which have anxiety-lowering and mood-enhancing effects. Clonazepam is a benzodiazepine (BZD) which increases the action of GABA, a chemical messenger that suppresses the abnormal activity of the nerve cells in the brain. Escitalopram is selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) which increases the levels of serotonin, a chemical messenger that improves mood.

You need to learn some behavioural techniques which will help you in managing your anxiety. You can talk to a counsellor who will help you with this.
You are feeling better because of the medicines. So please consult your doctor before tapering it down or before stopping it. Talk to your doctor about starting therapy. Medication along with therapy will give you good results. And then after consulting your doctor and your counsellor you will be able to stop these medicines.

Dear lybrate-user,
nothing worse will happen. Your original complaints may return, if you are not fully treated or you have not found alternate methods of treatment like therapy. It is better to withdraw one of the drug in nexito forte (clonazepam) first and then escitalopram (available as plain nexito - not forte)
