Pioz mf (7.5) was a fdc (fixed dose combination). Fdc is a single tablet containing more than one drug. Government removed many fdcs last year which they found was inappropriate or not required, pioz mf (7.5) was one of them. So yes, it was banned for sale by government, but not due to safety issue. Consider the fact that pioz (7.5) is still available for patients but not it's fdc with metformin. The drugs mentioned Glimepiride and Voglibose are different in their action.
Metformin is supposed to reduce or delay glucose absorption and hence slows down blood glucose rise after taking food. Plus it also reduces insulin resistance hence helps blood glucose control. There are other beneficial effects like helps slight weight reduction.

JARDIANCE can be taken along with many common type 2 diabetes medications, such as metformin, sulfonylurea, pioglitazone, and insulin. But, if you take JARDIANCE with another medicine that can cause low blood sugar, such as sulfonylurea or insulin, your risk of hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) is higher.
