Consult the treating Psychiatrist before doing anything as not tablets retain their bioavailability after being crushed. The amount of medication available within the body may reduce if it is crushed and mixed with food items. Consult the treating Psychiatrist for alternative medication which is orodispersible or mixes with food.

Dear lybrate-user, I am assuming you have started these medicines as advised by a psychiatrist, who might have prescribed them for a depressive/anxiety disorder. In that case, when you initiate antidepressants of this class, you might suffer minor symptoms like headaches or nausea. But after 1-2 weeks these symptoms usually don't cause trouble. That is also the time when the improvement in your mood and ability to work will begin to be seen. So, it is important to communicate any discomfort free...more

Yes you can take these medicines as advised by psychiatrist. You just need dosage adjustment as per your stage of CKD. Both these drugs can be given but at lower dosage and I am sure your psychiatrist must have done the job already.

They need to be prescribed by a psychiatrist only after evaluating your physical, psychological condition and other medications you are on. Do not self medicate. Good luck.

Dear Harish,
There are many companies that manufacture desvenlafaxine. Most companies have their distributors at Chennai. You can ask your nearest chemist for desvenlafaxine 50 mg. He will get it for you. Please don't stop the drug on your own. Discuss with your doctor before weaning.

Usually panic disorder's treatment it given for 1year initially and then gradually stopped. If someone again starts getting panic symptoms after stopping the treatment he may require the treatment for few more years. In very few cases treatment may needed for lifetime however once a person get relief with medication he may just require 1-2 medicines for longer period not all the medication as mentioned by you.

Dear Lybrate user. It is not advisable to stop the medicine you are taking all of a sudden. Instead of curing or managing your problems, it will only aggravate them. If you're not willing to continue or if you want to stop taking it please go to the Doctor Who prescribed it. He/she will gradually taper the dosage and stop it without any unwanted effects, and also replace it some other safer drug that suits you best.
