Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query.
At 40 years, HbA1c% should be closer to 6.8%, to say one has good control. From the glucose levels mentioned, it is clear that present treatment is not helping in controlling blood glucose level. Ideally FBG should be < 100 mg, PP 150 to 160 mg & HbA1c% <6.8.
Therefore, we need to have a re-look at the present treatment, dietary intake and extent of daily exercise. We may have to change the present drugs or add one or more compounds to the current ...more

Mr. lybrate-user, Since your diabetes is in good control, and apparently you have no erectile dysfunction, then you can definitely try for another baby. Your diabetes does not affect your wife. As regards the baby, in the later part of life there is a possibility of kids getting diabetes. But a healthy lifestyle is maintained that can be prevented. Thanks.

Hello, Thanks for the query.
One of the most common and early seen complication of diabetes is peripheral neuropathy, with symptoms that you have described. Pragabalin is one of the better treatments to control pain. However, best option is achieving a strict blood glucose control with FBG < 100 mg, PP 150 to 170 mg & HbA1c% < 6.5%. Since there is absolutely no information on the following : FBG, PP glucose, HbA1c%, weight, height, dietary pattern, extent of daily exercise, lipid profile an...more

Hello Vanshika...
The doctor who is treating the patient is competent enough to adjust the dosage of the antidiabetic medicines...
Better let him handle the case...
For second opininon you can consult with full case details as in such cases we cannot suggest treatment on random basis.
