Do not bother about cortisol levels. It keeps fluctuating very fast based on stress levels. You should do some aerobic exercise and some breathing exercises. If the problem still persists, some change on medication may be needed. Best of luck.

Cortisol is rare reason for anxiety and depression. Common neurotransmitter implicated is serotonin and it is not simple to understand the interplay between hormones and neurotransmitters ( but basic explanation can be given to a lay person).
