Sir for ibs, there has been a lot of literature with regards to this and in association with stress and with use of pre-pro biotics.
Please consult with your doctor / psychiatrists about regular use of sertraline or mirtazepine which is shown to be beneficial in ibs along with use of pre and pro biotic compounds.

Dear Mr. Hisham,
Excessive mucus production can be due to many causes. Since you have not mentioned anything about the tests that you have undergone, I will advice you to meet a good Chest Specialist. Basic Investigations needs to be done. Depending on the results doctors can take further call on your management. I hope you will understand it may sometimes be time consuming to get an accurate diagnosis and relief. All the best.

Allergic reactions to dust or air borne mites (in AC environment is common) or some foods also leads to accumulation of kappha leading to this. It may not be infection at all. This probably is not the side effect of the medicine. But anyways once you have doubt better stop the medicine use. Keep checking if the child still behaves abnormally even in the absence of medicine.
