Yes it does help you even if you have fever, but only if cough is dry, but if the cough has phlegm then you will need an antibiotic.

No need to take any medicines before taking vaccine.
After taking vaccine, to reduce pain you can take paracetamol
if developing fever, can continue paracetamol.

Seasonal flu (common cold) is a viral infection. It normally takes 5-6 days & sometimes even longer to go away. Antibiotics have no effect on it. So, have patience. your child isn't a guinea pig, so don't keep changing antibiotics on your own. Contact a pediatrician if needed.
