Hullo Doc! My wife was recently diagnosed with Rheumatoid arthritis (ra factor less than 10.4,crp 24.5,hb 9.7,esr 40, anti ccp antibodies 61.70). The pain becomes acute after evening. I consulted 2 docs - an orthopaedic surgeon and a physician- both senior specialists. The former gave 1. hydroxychloroquine 400 mg od, 2. Celecoxib 200 mg bd. The latter gave 1.Methotrexate 5 mg/week, 2.Sulfasalazine 500 mg od. Both have prescribed Iron capsules. Am very worried and confused about which course is better to take. PLEASE GUIDE. Can I give her aceclofenac 100/200 mg at night and for how long, along with either course to relieve pain? THANKS SO MUCH.

I am suffering from RA arthritis! I feel extreme body stiffness early morning when the body is in rest! Also excruciating pain in hands and legs because of pain in joints many a times making hand immovable! Medicines I tried initially- 1) aceclofenac 200 mg 2) hydroxychloroquine 200 mg 3) sulfasalazine 500 mg 4) pantoprazole 40 mg But I took it only for initial 2 days leaving it as I feel it didn't suit me!

My sister is suffering from rheumatoid arthritis from last 4 years, she is now 35 year old. Last 6 -8 months she is having severe pain in all her joints. Shoulder, knee, wrist, stiffness and severe pain is there, weakness in shoulder and hands. Her recent medication includes. She used to take hydroxychloroquine tablet hcqs 200 mg and prednisolone dispersible tablet 5 mg or sometimes 10 mg. Now due to present pandemic conditions can't take the risk of going to the doctor. I want to know do we have any permanent solution on this because of this she is unable to plan pregnancy. Whenever shes try to stop this medicine shes getting health issue, request you to please suggest on this.

If your sister is planning pregnancy tell her to go for it at the earliest as life long treatment is necessary in most of the autoimmune disorders like ra. Before planning rheumatologist's consultation is mandatory to review the medication.

Recently tested covid-19 positive with mild symptoms, when I was going for test I have only cold and body pains after few days lost smell. I was quarantined for 10 days ,while discharge they haven't conducted negative test. It's all happened 1 month back, but still I am suffering with cold. In quarantine I have use hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin and multi vitamin 5 days. From past ten days i'm using citizen tablets in the night. Still i'm suffering with cold, if i'm in sleeping position it was blocking one nostril and in standing position i'm not finding.

My mother is patient of rheumatoid arthritis for 11 - 12 years and she is being treated by best possible doctors in Varanasi. Currently one of her medicine is missing from market and isn't available anywhere in whole Varanasi. Her medicine, HYDROQUIN which she takes regularly is not available in whole Varanasi, due to some manufacturer's issue. Medical shop owner has told me that it will take more than a month. I contacted my mother's doctor and he is in USA and will return in January 2018. My mother is without her medicine and she is now suffering pain everywhere in her body. I want to know that whether I can giver her same combination medicine of other company or not? HYDROQUIN is missing from market.

There are many other brands like hcq, zyq, hqtor etc. I don't think stopping hcq should lead to so much pain. Hcq is a very mild drug for RA. I hope she is taking other drugs properly.

Difficult to say. Depends on what drugs she is on. Is she taking hcq / hydroxychloroquine? It can sometimes cause black pigmentation. I don't think it should be anything serious. Do let us know accordingly.

You must have heard of hydroxychloroquine or chloroquine which is an animal antimalarial drug..But hydroxychloroquine is also a drug for rheumatoid arthritis and other types of non specific arthritis.

Similarly the drug given to you is DEC...Antihelminthic but also used for fibromyalgia...Here your symptoms can be added to fibromyalgia...

I had cough since nov. 2019 and got checked with md after hrct and other tests .he diagnosed me with ra- ild .and he started with wysolone and prefridone .i got relief. For further satisfaction I got checked at rheumatology dept. In pgi chandigarh on 6th jan. 2020 and after series of tests ra-ild was confirmed and I was asked to stop prefridone and continue with wysolone along with meconerv. Want to know that the supplement b12 alone alongside wysolone is good enough for my ailment.

Hi, I'm 55 years female from kolkata. I'm a diabetic (take Glycomet GP1 FORTE (GLIMEPIRIDE 1 mg + METFORMIN 1000 mg) twice & 10 iu insulin overnight ,fasting 80, PP 254 measured yesterday) & pancreatic (taking Panlipase 25000 after food thrice every day for last 5 years) patient. For the last 1 year, I'm feeling pain in fingers of both hands and in shoulder joints. Pain is unbearable at times. In afternoon often we see middle fingers of the hands get deformed. Visited a doctor. And he told this is a rheumatic arthritis. He gave Wysolone 10 mg for 45 days followed by wysolone 5 mg for 30 days. HCQ (Hydroxychloroquine) 300 mg, ARAVA (Leflunomide) 20 mg, INJ. Folitrax 20 mg once on sundays. Folvite 5 mg mondays to saturdays. Wysolone is now completely stopped. When I take wysolone there is no pain in fingers. Here is the test reports at a glance, Uric Acid 3.69 (range 2.6-6.0), RF 7.15 (<14), CRP 3.02 (<5) vit D (25 oh D) 36.12 (30 -100. AntiCCP Anti Body 5.61 (<20). CBC, Haemoglobin 11.8 gm/dl (range 12.5 - 15.3), MCHC (Mean corpuscular Hemoglobin concentration) 32.9 (range 33.4-35.5),Total RBC 4.0 million cells/cu mm (range 4.5-5.1), lymphocytes 52% (range 20-40) basophil 00 (range 01-02), ESR 16 (range <30) SGPT 13.8 U/L (range <35, Lipase 32.5 U/L (range 30-300), CRP 1.20 (range <10), amylase 78.2 (range 30 -110) Test was done in SERUM, Kolkata in 15th june 2017. Many doctors are telling me that this is rheumatic arthritis, But after 6 months of taking medicines for the same pain the still there, only fingers does not get deformed in afternoon. Please tell me is the diagnosis is right? Am I on right treatment? Or there is any other problem? Is there any bad action for taking panlipase 25000 for last 5 years? One more question for RA CRP & RF should be positive, but for my case it is negative, so how can it be RA?

RA is a autoimmune disease which is related to diet which needs to be radically changed for reversal of disease. Rheumatologist Drs in India only know to give pills for any illness .They do not know that there is natural treatment available because nutrition is not taught in the medical curriculum.
They do not think outside the box.
Change your diet and reduce the medicines.
I think you were getting too many drugs for RA .Were they all given at the same time or at different periods.<...more
