Hello, Thanks for the query.
Allergic reactions can happen to any medication. Usually these happen right in the beginning. Sometimes there can be a late reaction also. Since you have not mentioned details about T3, T4 & TSH levels, it is difficult to know the severity of the condition being treated. Because Neomercazole happens to be the only treatment for that condition. Some times taking anti histaminics may help in controlling allergic reactions. If the reactions are severe you may have...more

Hello, thanks for the query.
Tsh 0.1 mu/l is not yet in the hyperthyroidism range. It is lower than normal. You have not mentioned t4 level, which is more relevant than t3. If you have tachycardia (fast pulse, >100/minute) and palpitation, then only proplanolol 20 mg or 40 mg may be helpful. But no other drug is needed. Thanks.

hyperthyroidism is a condition which can only be controlled by taking drugs as you are doing, or thyroidectomy (removal of thyroid) may have to be undertaken. Or by using radio active iodine the gland's activity is curtailed. Once that is done you will have to take thyroxine tablets to replace the hormone. There are no medications to curtail the glandular activity than methods mentioned above.

Hello, Thanks for the query.
I have seen the details mentioned. Only FT4 is not so much important. TSH has to come up also total T4 level also needs to be checked. The very fact that TSH is still 0.007mU/L, shows you have still a very strong hyperactivity of thyroid gland. TSH has to come up to 2 to 4 mU/L range. The hyperactivity has to be completely brought in control. If you are on treatment for over 2 years then please talk to your doctor and find out if other options like Radio Iodine c...more

Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query.
In hyperthyroidism due to excess thyroxine heart rate does go up, plus there may be palpitations. Therefore toexcess activity may return. Then other modes of treatment control that Beta blocker (Ciplar) is given. That helps in controlling those symptoms. If necessary that dosage may have to be increased. However, most important is to bring TSH closer to normal range (around 3 to 4 mU/L. That will relieve all the symptoms. Treatment with Neomercazole ha...more

Dear lybrate-user,
from the fact that you quickly became hypothyroid after carbimazole it looks like the underlying problem may be an autoimmune thyroiditis or subacute thyroiditis .please check tpo antibodies and inform results
