I am a woman of about 51 years, having diabetes treatment regularly. Once a year, when the season changes from winter to summer in the months of March-April, I get pain in the back followed by acute pain in the lower back side, abdomen, corner of thighs and neck. With time, the pain increases and becomes so acute that I couldn't even move out of my bed without any help. For relief, I take painkillers and hot fomentation regularly but the pain eases a little bit and then again increases. I also get constipation with backache, say I go to pass stools after two days often. It usually happened to me during my young age also but that time, pain remains for two- three days only and after taking lot of bed rest and fomentation, I am relieved. But now the condition is becoming worse day by day. After my periods are stopped in the beginning of 2014, the pain is critical. I regularly take shelcal and calcijoint (once a week) along with diabetes tablet. Kindly guide me what precautions to take and which tablets to continue so that the worse situation doesn't come in the next changing season. Thanks in advance!

It is important to meet orthopaedic surgeon for your pains. May be you can do BMD (Bone mineral density) study before meeting him or after he advises. For constipation either regular use of fibre or occasional use of purgative. If you decide for fibre you may contact me as even with distance I can help you to get good quality of same.

Dear lybrate-user,
namaskar,
you seem to do very well with your workout. Keep it up. Avoid running fast continuously. You can do that intermittently and increase the speed gradually. Secondly. Bmd test done in a free camp is a very crude sort of screening. If you wish, get bone densitometry done at a reputed radiology centre for exact assessment. You may take dv k-60 once a week and becosule twice a day for 3 months to compensate the deficiency reported. Take care.

If you are experiencing back pain with radiating pain, then it is likely that you have developed spinal disc herniation with nerve root impingement (radiculopathy).
You should also rule out if have a weaker spine. Go for dexa bmd scan for spine & vitamin d tests.
Kindly get your mri done for lumbosacral spine with pelvis screening. Get these investigations done for a better diagnosis and further precise treatment.
All the best.

Get bone density checked by DXA scan. Don't rely on cheap BMD scans. And vitamin D3 deficiency. U can take capsules also. Nothing wrong in taking injection. But if you do not want pricks take cap. Uprise D3 60k once a week for 10 weeks. And then once monthly for 6 months. Along with calcium supplements.

Popping or cracking noises could just be gas bubbles bursting within the fluid surrounding the joint, or the sound of ligaments and tendons stretching and releasing. A soft snapping or clicking sound is also sometimes caused by a tight muscle or tendon moving over a bony structure.
