Mr. Lybrate-user, thanks for the query.
Tablet obimet contains metformin. Whereas vildagliptin is a different compound. These drugs are usaully combined together. But whether to to one or both depends on the glucose levels, hba1c%, I can not answer without all the necessary details. Thanks.

Could be side effects of the medications. For now you can take a 'l-lysine' containing syrup for boosting appetite, take a 'proton pump inhibitor' (for gas, acidity, bloating) in the morning, and do a liver function test (blood test for lft). Most importantly, talk to the doctor who treats your diabetes about this symptom.

Hello, thanks for the query.
I have seen the details given. However, there is only mention of medication being taken. That does not give any idea about how is the actual glucose control, because there is no information on fasting, pp glucose, hba1c%, dietary pattern, lipid profile, extent of daily exercise and bp readings. As regards changing a brand of metformin hardly matters. Unless above information is provided I am unable to comment or give any suggestions.

The medicine is metformin. Its very safe and is the drug of first choice in patients with diabetes. The only care you should take is with vitamin B12 (this an go down with metformin). You can get your level checked along with other parameters of diabetes control and consult in private. I will be able to clarify further.
Its absolutely kidney safe. But if you have kidney problem due to other reasons or diabetes you must take it with caution or stop it. The medicine itself will cause no kidney...more

The medicine you are taking contains metformin which helps in reducing insulin resistance, but does not really help in reducing excess facial hair growth. You need to consult your dermatologist again regarding this. Laser hair removal is the only solution for permanently reducing hair growth in case of PCOS.

In pt of pcod there is increased insulin resistance ,metformin being a insulin sensitizer drug decreases the insulin resistance, it also helps in reducing wt and in ovulation. Total dose is 1500 mg taken in 2 or 3 divided doses.
Lifestyle changes for wt reduction should also be adopted.
