My father sugar is too high Earlier he was on mixtard insulin 22 unit morning 14 unit night so doc changed it into actrapid 12 unit each before 3 times meal and and lantus after dinner bt unfortunately 100iu/ml actrapid is not available in the market where I live and due to this I gave 40/iu insulin bt sugar levels goes very high. So please suggest some alternative as doc to whom we consult is not available

You can use 40 iu insulin, but you have to use U40 syringe only (with red cap). instead of actrapid, You may find U100 insulin huminsulin R or insuman R or insugen R.

I am a 58 years female with a history of diabetes since 1990. I have taken almost all types of medicines, insulin. Slitely obese, with a wt of 78 kgs and 5.4 ht. At present I am on Zitamet 50/500 morning n after noon, Glimperide 2 before meals 3 times, human mixtard insulin 50/50 30-30-25, Basalog 40 units at night time. For bp Starpress xl-50 once, Rozat-10, Telma-40 each at night time. Still my sugars are uncontrolled varying between 200- 280 random. I walk for 1 hr regularly and moderate eater too. Please advice.

Glimipride at this stage of disease probably is of no use. You need a change in your insulin. I will advise plain insulin in place of mixtard. Zitamet can be increased to 50/1000 twice a day. Basalog should continue.

every insulin has it's time of action. for example human mustard 30/70 has 12 hrs of action or actrapid has 6-8hrs , novorapid 4 hrs humalog 4 hrs humalog mix25/75 has 12hrs lantus (glargine) has 24 hrs etc..
after it is finished then sugars will start rising again and need another shot.

I take two type insulin 1 human insulatard, 2 human actrapid 40 iu/ml I take 2 time in a day. I have many problems. Eye, knee pain ,urine, back pain, head pain & latrine, weekly, body not growth, skin disease etc. I say that I use medicine type 1 diabetes? Or others insulin please say me I want close use take insulin but then many problems.

Hb1ac level, serum creatinine, vit d3 calium and phosphorus level has to be done. Diabetic diet and excersise ismust. Depending on fbs/ppbs insulin has to be changed.

My wife aged 52 years is suffering from hbp since 1988 and from dm since 2008. Her sugar is uncontrolled at present. All sorts of tablets and insulin given to her does not show any result. Earlier she was taking basalog injection 20 units at bed time alongwith trejenta=duo 8. 5/1000 and gemer forte tablets. At present she is taking novo-mix 30 insulin 24 units before breakfast and 16 units before dinner. She is also taking tab-glucobay-m 25/500. For hbp she is taking olsartan-h-40 and cd-pin in morning and met-xl-50 in evening. Her weight is 49 kgs. There is no family history for hbp or dm. Her latest reports are fbs-278 and pp2bs-380. Hba1c 12. 7. Doctors say that she is having insulin-toxicity. Diet is being followed strictly. Even though we are not getting any positive results. We are confused and worried where to go and what to do. If you can advice in the case, it will be a great help. Thanks.

Start huminsulin r 15 units 3 tc imes a day 1/2 hr before meals. And basalog 20 units bed time. Continue medicene for bp. Review after 10 days n adjust the dose.

My grandmother aged 91 years is suffering from diabetic neuropathy. One month ago she recovered from pneumonia rll. She has renal impairment also. Ct scan revealed gross to moderate hydro nephrosis in one kidney and puj obstruction? She is also taking teneglyptin 20 mg ,amlodipine 5 mg and deriphyllin 300 od also and basalog insulin 6 units daily and also cobadex. Now my question is that can she take pevesca plus to ease her nerve pain which she used to take before her pneumonia episode but not taking now. And does pevesca plus have any adverse effect on the kidneys? Kindly advise.

She can start pevesca plus. No problem even if her creatinine is on higher side. She can take one in the night.

Sir, myself satya. My father is a diabetes patient. His fasting blood sugar is 76 & after food blood sugar is 190. He is taking glycomet trio 2 for 2 times before food istamet 50/500 for 3 times after food & basalog insulin 10 units for one time. Now his doctor prescribed t'glip m 500 instead of istamet 50/500. Sir, my father having moderate enlarged liver. I've heard that composition of t'glip m 500 is not good for liver problem. Sir, my question is whether this new medicine will be good or harmful for my father. Sir please just suggest me should my father go for it or not.

I have seen the details given. The glucose levels mentioned are quite well controlled. However, regarding the change of drugs (adding Tenelegliptin instead of Sitagliptin) may be due to cost. There is no worry about the safety of Tenelegliptin at all. It is quite good. In fact it helps in improvement of liver functions. So no need to worry. Thanks.

I am female and an diabetes patient & take insulin Glargine injection (Mono component Insulin Glargine LANTUS) for sugar for the last 7 years through pen injection, 1 insulin per day at night after the dinner. I am also a heart patient. My problem is that due to one injection per day on leg several pimples have formed and now I am not understanding how to take now injection when pimples are more in number. I also have allergy with some vegetables. Thanks.
