I am not sure who got you hooked onto sleeping pills, that too so heavy dose of alprazolam. On a longer run, they will shrink your brain, resulting in early onset dementia, personality changes, memory changes, even withdrawal seizures. Kindly consult a psychiatrist, get your sleep evaluated, and he will gradually wane you off the sleeping pills and give pills which promote sleep by acting on the cause of sleep disturbance, he may also educate you on sleep hygiene.

Hello lybrate-user ji,
obsessive compulsive disorder takes some time to go. Along with the medicines you have to take cognitive behavioural therapy. Have some patience with the treatment, it is of long duration but it gets cured with time.
Thanks and regards.

It is advisable to consult the prescribing doctor explaining what symptoms are persisting and what you would like with you mother's symptoms that need to be improved. I don? t know when you went for your last review. If you have not gone for a review, please do so immediately. Alcohol is certainly not recommended with this medicine. About continuing with this medication you must talk to your doctor but if you wish to discontinue always do so only under medical advice. It is also very important to attend some counseling sessions too. It is the combination of the two that will give you the best results. If you have done these two in combination for a reasonable...more

That might be frustrating for you. You might not be able to live a life of your choice and not accomplished what you wanted to. However, allopathic treatment can only offer symptomatic relief with some side effects of the medicines but no long term resolution. Alternative treatment like homeopathy and ayurveda offer gentle and holistic treatment which is safer and remove the problem from its roots. Counselling is another such intervention which has helped many individuals suffering from anxiety ...more
