Hi, Lybrate user, you need to monitor your weight that triggers your bp, up.
Bp level in between 140/80 is almost, normal, hence, amlodepine of 2.5 mg is supposed to be adequet, instead of 5 mg.

Your father have hypertension. Hypertension over long term can cause secondary complications. You should get some workup done atleast once a year. Cbc, rft, rbs, ecg, echo, fundus, these are some bare minimum. If you had it done you can send me the reports, I will review. Now for treatment, telmisartan is really good drug. As you r already having hypertension (though under control with medicines, you should b careful while using skin related chemical compounds. Dear Lybrateuser, - Your mother has to take the medication continuously, the BP has come down because of the medication, if you stop it it will again rise
- take the advise of your treating doctor if any alteration or change in medication is required
