Pedal edema is a common side effect with calcium channel blockers. Alternate would be metoprolol or a thiazide diuretic. Avoid beta blockers if you're an asthmatic. Common side effects of beta blockers are tremors and postural hypotension.
Thiazide diuretic would be ideal if no other contraindication.
Do consult your physician with detailed history.

Dear, please understand alcohol is not a reason for anything. It is acting as an inhibitor in the brain. Dopa-mine is released and you will be able to do anything when you are under the influence of alcohol. You will need self esteem and self confidence building psychotherapy.
