I had chest pain and doctor advised testing ecg, echo cardiograph, troponin test, stress test, blood test haemogram, sugar, liver etc all test are negative no issues, but chest pain is still there, I am able to do work normally no issue in breathing, able to walk 8 km per day. Doctor gave me temla40+metoprolol 25 once a day and night ecosprin av 75 mg, but some times I get good sleep some times not, heat beat is fast at night and I get up.in morning I have lot of pain on my cheat area, but I am normal I go for walk 5 km no issues in doing so. Can you suggest is this due to any blockage issues or like pulmonary embolism or is this just anxiety/stress kindly advice, I had a good lifestyle and used to play daily tennis 2 hours and yoga pranayam, playing badminton before this issue, now I am walking around 7 km daily. I have gone to all doctors but no improvement, bp is normal like under 140/90 even I do not take temla 40/metoprolol 25 bp does no increase. I want some one to give me correct diagnosis what exactly is issue. Doctor also advice me in anxiety is more take alprazolam or alprax 5 mg. When I take alprazolam or alprax I feel normal.

Alprazolam is a dangerous tablet on longer run and can cause severe cognitive, personality canes and even seizures. Occasional anxiety is a normal part of life. You might feel anxious when faced with a problem at work, before taking a test, or making an important decision. But anxiety disorders involve more than temporary worry or fear. For a person with an anxiety disorder, the anxiety does not go away and can get worse over time. Restlessness or feeling wound-up or on edge

Your psychiatrist is doing a very good job, in getting you away from alprazolam to something milder and then to something non-harmful. Kindly follow his/her advise. For your rheumatoid arthritis follow as per your rheumatologist advise. You can taper and stop clonotril, no issues. Ask your psychiatrist.

Alprax is alprazolam a benzodiazepine which is highly addictive and harmful in longer run, causing cognitive deficits, personality changes, withdrawal seizures, dementia, etc. There is a method to add alternates, with neuronal stabilisers with reviews every two weeks. Kindly consult any psychiatrist, they will be able to do the needful. Good luck.

Dear, alprax contains alprazolam. It is a short acting medicine that makes one drowsy/sleepy. But when used for a longer time and then suddenly stopped it can lead to rebound sleeplessness. It does have side effects and I would not recommend that you take it continuously.
You may gradually try to decrease the dose to half then take it alternate day and then stop it over 2 weeks. Don't stop immediately. There are other safer drugs for insomnia that you can use instead.

Hello, Thanks for the query.
Alprazolam is an anti anxiety drug, given to calm the mind. Where as the tablet you have mentioned is a hypnotic that is sleep inducing drug. Both are different. Thanks.

Hi lybrate-user, alprazolam is a very addictive drug. It can cause agitation, tension, anxiety and sleeplessness on suddenly stopping it. It is a dependence producing drug. I suggest you take your friend to a neaby neuropsychiatrist. He will definitely help your friend .Wish him a speedy recovery, best of luck.
