I am feeling head ache from yesterday night. What I have to do and which medicine should I take?
Hello. Firstly get your eyesight checked" Immediately"…it is strongly advisable that you keep yourself away from laptops, televisions until you get cured. Make sure you have your head in the south or east direction while sleeping… The most effective remedy for these kind of problems is" cow ghee" take 1 spoon of cow ghee and warm it, With the help of a dropper, Pour one drop of cow ghee in each of your nostril. It may sound weird or a hectic job at first but trust me it is the most effective remedy. It Makes your head nerves lighter and healthier that too without any side effects. Furthermore it is advisable that you keep yourself stress free by practicing breathing exercise (pranayam) everyday. Oil your scalp regularly with mustard oil. Lastly take at least 8 hours of sleep. Thanks:)

In last two days there was change in colour of my mole on my face, now I have almost 10-12 moles on my face on a whole. Is this a dangerous sign? Does sunlight effects pigmentation in moles. Pls suggest me.

MBBS, MD - MD- Skin & VD
Dermatologist, Ahmedabad
It is a dangerous sign if they have grown suddenly, not if they appeared gradually. You need to see a doctor, if the mole is: -Getting bigger -Changing shape, particularly getting an irregular edge -Changing colour – getting darker, becoming patchy or multi shaded -Loss of symmetry – the two halves of your mole do not look the same Itching or painful -Bleeding or becoming crusty -Looking inflamed These are the melanoma symptoms of a mole. See your doctor.

I had my periods around 10-13 May, 2016 and had protected sex on the 29th May, 2016. I took a pregnancy test on 14th June which was a negative and then had my periods the next day, on the 15th and it lasted for around 3 days. Is there any chances of it being implantation bleeding? I had cramps and bloating around the 23rd - 30th of June, and took a pregnancy test on 28th of june which was negative. I took another pregnancy test on the 1st of July, 2016 which was again negative. It is 15th today and I still have not got my periods and I have very scanty white discharge and slight cramps. Is there a possibility of me being pregnant? Also I took an ultrasound on the 4th of July. The doctor said my uterus was normal. I am getting so paranoid. Please help.

Hello, the period you had in june seems like a normal period. The chance of a pregnancy in a month is only about 20-30% so do not stress out abt it. It may take a while to get pregnant! do a pregnancy test only wen your periods are delayed and not thru out the cycle. There are a few hormonal changes that occur normally with each menstrual cycle like bloating etc. In case of further queries I wud be happy to help.

Penis Tears After Sex

Sex is enjoyable. However, there are occasions where the sex is no longer pleasurable, like when the male develops a cut on his penis during or after intercourse. Surprisingly, penis tears are very common. But it is not frequently reported by men because of feeling ashamed about admitting the problem to their doctors. However, no matter how small the cut, you should go to see your physician, especially if the tear heals slowly.

Causes of Penis Tears

Penis tears can result from a variety of causes. The most common are:

Friction - The most obvious cause of a cut on the penis is too much friction during sex. While it is true that the more friction between the vagina and the penis the more pleasure is generated, it also goes along this line that penile injury is more likely to occur. Guys endowed with bigger penises should bear in mind that they are more at risk of such injuries, especially if they have sex with a smaller partner or if they love to have deep penetration sex.

Frenulum injury - There is a structure underneath the penis head that is known as the frenulum. It is like a ridge of small skin connecting the head of the penis to the shaft skin. A shorter frenulum means that the penile skin is dragged easily forward and back during sex. When the skin is tugged back, the action will cause some pain or discomfort. At some point, when the sex is already too hard, the frenulum may be ripped or torn, resulting in bleeding.

Balanitis - This is a condition that often surfaces as a result of chronic diabetes. Diabetic patients are at risk because wound healing is generally slowed down. But in most cases, balinitis is caused by poor hygiene and infection; that's why uncircumcised men are more prone to getting this condition. It is characterized by an inflammation of the penile head and the foreskin. Men usually suspect balanitis if their penises are easily reddened, especially at the head part. Rashes on the same area are frequently seen as well.

Yeast infection - The most common type of male yeast infection is the one affecting the male reproductive organ. Sexual dysfunction, burning sensation during sex, reddened penis head and blistered penile trunk are the most common signs and symptoms of yeast infection. Rashes, swelling, and a cut on the penis also develop more easily among yeast-infected males.

Other causes - Genital piercings and an allergy to latex condoms have also been reported to cause a cut on the penis

I am unable to get a sound sleep from many days. I feel dizziness and severe headache. please suggest me what should ...
Dear lybrate user 1) maintain a regular sleep routine go to bed at the same time. Wake up at the same time. Ideally, your schedule will remain the same (+/- 20 minutes) every night of the week. A good sleep hygiene routine promotes healthy sleep and daytime alertness. 2) avoid sleeping during the daytime. It can disturb the normal pattern. 3) avoid caffeine, nicotine, and alcohol near bedtime. While alcohol may speed the onset of sleep, it creates problems in he second half of sleep. 4) exercise can promote good sleep. Exercise should be taken in the morning or late afternoon. Yoga, can be done before bed to help. 5) have a quiet, comfortable bedroom. Set your bedroom thermostat at a comfortable temperature. Generally, a little cooler is better than a little warmer. Turn off the tv and other extraneous noise that may disrupt sleep. Background'white noise' like a fan is ok. If your pets awaken you, keep them outside the bedroom. Your bedroom should be dark. Turn off bright lights. Have a comfortable mattress. 6) avoid heavy meals close to bedtime. 7) ensure adequate exposure to natural light. 8) avoid emotionally upsetting conversations and activities before trying to go to sleep. Do not think of, or bring your problems to bed. 9) stop using all your digital devices and stop looking at digital screens be it mobile phones or televisions at least 1 hour before the time you plan to sleep. Instead try reading a fiction book near bedtime so it makes you help relaxed and de-stressed. Sleep well live healthy and live longer.

Dear Akash. Welcome to lybrate. Watching sex videos repeatedly comes under addiction. Because your brain pleasure centre is activated during watching porn and because it became a habit, you are addicted. You should try to engage in other activities such as physical exercises, games and entertainment. Slowly this addiction will wean off. Worrying about this habit can cause anxiety and therefore, stop worrying. Take care.

Dear lybrate user. I can understand. Trichotillomania is a disorder that involves recurrent, irresistible urges to pull out hair from your scalp, eyebrows or other areas of your body, despite trying to stop. Cbt (cognitive behavioral therapy), dbt (dialectical behavior therapy), and act (acceptance and commitment therapy) components are used for best treatment results. I suggest these therapies online. Feel free to contact me. Take care.

3 Tropical Fevers - How to Differentiate Between Them?

MD, MBBS
General Physician, Bangalore
3 Tropical Fevers - How to Differentiate Between Them?

The rains almost always bring about a plethora of diseases with fevers of different kinds. Dengue, typhoid and chikungunya can be regarded as the top three tropical fevers and diagnosing them sometimes become quite tricky as all of them have similar symptoms and the laboratory tests are not always precise. The best you can do is be aware of the early symptoms and signs as successful treatment is heavily dependent on the detection of early symptoms of the fever you are suffering from.

Dengue

Causes: Dengue is considered as a serious viral ailment and is transmitted by the Aedes aegypti mosquito. This fever occurs in two varieties, uncomplicated fever and the more serious haemorrhagic fever. The latter is the second leading form of the viral disease, leading to bleeding and shock and in the most severe instances. It can also be fatal, especially for children.
Symptoms: The symptoms may vary as per the age and physical condition of the patient. If you are affected with a sudden onset of very high fever along with headaches, rashes and pain behind the eyes, with loss of appetite and vomiting tendencies, then you must consult a doctor. It can also cause weak pulses, difficulty in breathing, restlessness and bleeding from the nose or gums along with blotchiness under the skin.

Typhoid
Causes: Typhoid is a bacterial ailment and mainly occurs due to unhygienic toilet habits, impure drinking water, and it can be transmitted to others through flies, food, faeces, touch and fornication.
Symptoms: The most common symptoms of typhoid fever include high fever, rashes all over the skin, cough, headache and loss of appetite. You may also experience coated tongue, malaise and diarrhoea or constipation. In case you are experiencing any of these signs, then you must seek medical help.

Chikungunya
Causes: Chikungunya fever is a viral ailment that is transmitted to human beings by infected mosquito bites. It is the leading cause of human epidemics in some parts of the African and Asian continents and it has now recently moved to some parts of Europe.
Symptoms: The chikungunya virus infection leads to symptoms that may be debilitating for some people. Fever, rash, fatigue and headaches along with muscle and joint pains are some of the most common symptoms of chikungunya. Some patients have reported excruciating joint pain and arthritis that can last for a week or even months together.

If you are faced with any of these symptoms for over three to four days, then you should not ignore them and seek medical assistance without any delay.
