Hi lybrate-user, After whole night fast our body needs good source of Carbohydrate and Protein in our diet. Fruits are rich in Carbohydrate, Vitamins and minerals. But they get digested very rapidly and can raise sugar level if you are prone to hyperglycemia. Thus need to add some Protein source too. Soaked nuts/ seeds/ Dry fruits / Curd/ Paneer / Eggs. Or take some complex carbohydrate in form of Breakfast cereals.

Fruits Vs Vegetables - What is More Healthy?

It is common knowledge that fruits as well as vegetables provide you with a natural combination of large number of nutrients, which help in the overall nourishment of your body. However, there are differences that are quite noticeable. Both the categories can be further divided into subcategories:

  1. Fruits consist of
    • Fruits such as apple, mango
    • Nuts such as almonds and peanuts
    • Legumes such as garbanzo beans
  2. Vegetables consist of
    • Leaves such as lettuce and cabbage
    • Stems such as asparagus and celery
    • Buds such as broccoli
    • Roots such as carrot, radish

Even though fruits as well as vegetables contain some similar nutrients, the number of micronutrients (chemical substances which are needed for the overall development and growth of the body) are generally higher in vegetables than fruits. On the other hand, fruits tend to have more macronutrients (types of foods required ion adequate amounts in one’s diet) as compared to vegetables.

Vegetables
Micronutrients are a class of nutrients that include vitamins, minerals and some phytonutrients that are mandatory for proper health. The right concentration of micronutrients plays a major role in supporting the healthy functioning of the organs. Leafy vegetables have an abundance of micronutrients such as the various vitamins as well as iron, calcium and magnesium; they play a major role in the proper functioning of the nervous system, bones, eyes, teeth, skin, muscles, blood cells, nails as well as the immune system. Root vegetables, along with being powerhouses of minerals and vitamins like the leafy vegetables, also additionally supply carbohydrates, especially complex-carbohydrates (carbohydrates which gradually supply constant energy to the body).

Fruits
The main difference between vegetable and fruits is that fruits contain substantially higher amounts of macronutrients than vegetables. These are the energy giving and caloric components of foods. These include proteins, carbohydrates and fats. Apples, bananas, oranges and other common fruits have higher concentrations of simple carbohydrates or sugars, like fructose. Vegetables tend to have lesser levels of fructose.

Fruits vs. Vegetables
Giving preference to vegetables over other foods would help in increasing the intake of nutrients that aid good health. At the same time, it helps in reducing intake of foods with high calories. On the other hand, fruits have low levels of fat and high level of fiber and water. This is required by the body for maintaining its digestive health. Fruits also have low sodium-content and high levels of natural sugars. This makes them an adequate substitute for processed foods that contain empty calories. Fruits contain calories that are densely packed with nutrients that supply vitamins and minerals along with energy.

All in all a balanced mix of both of them is highly recommended as one cannot substitute the requirement another fulfills. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a dietitian-nutritionist.

Thanks for the query. There is no special type of food recommended for specific blood groups. Secondly similarly for PCOD also there is no special diet. But looking at your weight and height you are over weight with a BMI of 27.34 kgs/M2 (normal <23 kgs/M2). Therefore, what is important is to reduce weight by taking a restricted diet by avoiding sweets, deep fried foods, junk foods, pastries, bakery items and sweetened aerated drinks. Also avoid fructose corn syrup containing foods. Plus exercise daily for at least 1 hour. Increase intake of green leafy vegetables and salads and fruits. Thanks.

Dear lybrateuser, - Since your cold is chronic & round the year it could be due to chronic sinusitis, rhinitis, nasal problem like polyp or a deviated nasal septum, allergy to dust - avoid dust, smoke, cold environment as in an ac room, pets, sprays, perfumes - do steam inhalation twice a day regularly - take tablet levocetirizine, 10 mg, 1 tablet daily in the evening - avoid cold fluids including aerated drinks - have a well balanced diet withore of fruits & vegetables, whole grains, protein foods to boost your immunity - do regular exercise like walking, jogging, swimming, also yoga & deep breathing to keep fit - do x- ray paranasal sinus to rule put Amy other problem.

person with chickenpox is infectious from 2 days before the rash appears until after the blisters have formed scabs, approximately 7–10 days later. Adequate rest is required for early recovery.

Mr Amit, Thanks for the query. Hepatitis is a viral disease and there are a number of types like Hepatitis A which is caused by water and food contamination due to sewage water. Other types like B& C are caused by contaminated syringes/needles, blood transfusion as well as unprotected sex with a person having such an infection. Syphilis is a bacterial infection caused by Trepanoma pallidum bacteria. It is a sexually transmitted disease following unprotected sex withan infected person. Thanks

Hi lybrate-user, bones become stronger with calcium intake, Dietary sources of calcium include milk & milk products like paneer, cheese, yogurt, lentils, beans, green leafy vegetables, soybean,salmon (fish). Have a high protein, medium carbs diet .Include 2 -3 serving of fruits & vegetables daily. Exercise / walk for atleast 30 minutes.

It could be due to allergy to citrus fruits and cold liquid. Avoid it. Do an allergy test after consulting Allergist/Immunologist to find out thecause of allergy and follow theadvice and treatment.
