Well, chicken pox scars may substantially improve till one year and some more till one more year, but slowly. Then, for left out scars I generally advocate resurfacing lasers. Right now use regular sunscreens and give time, but please take local dermatologist opinion.

I'm hitting gym 5 times in a week. And Im not taking whey protein can I take bcaa and glutamine for recovery. Will it sufficent?

Whey protein is taken post workout. It already has important amino acids like glutamine which is very helpful. It should be had within 40 minutes of your workout to prevent wear and tear of muscles. Since this window is called the protein window. BCAA are specific 3 amino acids. Whey is complete in itself.

I want to get 200gm of protein on regular basis. And I am vegetarian infact I do not want to eat any type of supplement. Will any one tell me what I have to eat any in what quantity. I am able to eat all types of milk made things, grains, some fruits (banana only), and anything could be made through grains and veggies. Please provide me the exact amount of quantity of the specific product I have to take.

Is there any harm if I use BLACK SALT while taking salad or fruits or in lemon tea or namkin lassi besides taking iodized salt in my routine diet. Do black salt harm us in anyway.

Dear lybrate-user, You can take any kind of salt which should not exceed the daily limit. It should be iodized salt which comes from sea but not as a buyer waste product from chemical industries. Taking too much of salt leads to water retention in the body and makes less potassium in the body which leads to muscular pains. Check your serum electrolytes, urine microscopy.

How To Eat Healthy and Stay Fit During Ramdaan!

Ramadan is a much-awaited month for various reasons. While some look forward to it for spiritual reasons, others look for the celebrations, and some others for the delicacies it brings along. Fasting for a full day is always followed by feasting, in most households. Some people begin shopping for stuff about a week or two before the starting date of Ramadan.

While it is definitely a time to feast, it is also important to eat healthy and not binge. The idea is to cleanse the mind and body of all sins, and so it is a good time to get back to better physical shape. Keep the following points in mind when planning the foods for this month-

  1. Ramadan is a time for cleansing, both physically and mentally, so there is no reason for fasting every single day.
  2. Because you fast through the day, it is not necessary to eat excessively over the time when it is possible. The body’s requirements do not change significantly, as there are always food reserves in the body
  3. Oily and greasy foods may be chosen with the belief that they can help you sustain without food for a longer time; this is not true. Oily and greasy foods, in fact, take a longer time to digest and also increase tiredness and fatigue. They are rich in fat, and so more fat reserves are accumulated.
  4. It is not necessary to spend long hours in the kitchen trying to cook up lavish meals, as the purpose of Ramadan is not just. It is more about self-contemplation and cleansing oneself.
  5. Eat foods which are easy to digest and also help in giving you energy. An added advantage would be to eat foods which have a cleansing or detox effect.
  6. Natural fruits and vegetables, dry fruits, grilled meat are good options.
  7. Also, take into account the regular work schedule and make sure your cooking and eating allows sufficient room for that.
  8. Sleep is another aspect which often gets ignored but is equally important. The body needs sleep as much as, or in some people, more than food. Lack of it can lead to fatigue, drowsiness, confusion, and fainting.
  9. Prophet himself has advised that only a few mouthfuls of food needs to be consumed.
  10. Fasting is a good way to give the body a break (digestive and other systems) and help natural detoxification.
  11. Do not skip exercise completely during this period. Stick to regular, light exercises which are comfortable.
  12. Many people tend to put on weight, but a little planning can help not just in avoiding this, but in reducing weight too. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a Dietitian/Nutritionist.

The watermelon seeds are full of health benefits. From snacks to soups, the utility of the seeds is limitless. In addition, the melon seeds are an excellent source of proteins (essential amino acids), vitamins (folate, thiamine and niacin, vitamin B6 and pantothenic acid), minerals (magnesium, copper, zinc, iron, potassium, phosphorous, and manganese) fatty acids. The advantages of melon seeds are immense and deserve a mention:

  1. Watermelon seeds for a younger looking skin: Watermelon seeds are a rich source of unsaturated fatty acids (linoleic acid and oleic acid). These unsaturated fatty acids help to maintain the natural glow of the skin. In addition, the antioxidants present in the seeds slow down the skin aging. Thus, the skin appears younger, softer and healthier. It also takes care of many dermatological problems (skin infections, rashes, and to some extent even skin cancer).
  2. Watermelon seeds to combat diabetes: It is a proven fact that watermelon seeds help to keep diabetes at bay. Add some watermelon seeds (~ a handful) in one-liter water. Bring the mixture to a boil (~40-45 minutes). For better results, drink this liquid regularly.
  3. A boost to male fertility: Lycopene, a strong antioxidant, plays a significant role in enhancing the male fertility.
  4. Watermelon seeds for a sharp memory: People with a short memory or memory problems benefit immensely from watermelon seeds.
  5. Regulates blood pressure: Arginine present in watermelon seeds plays a significant role in regulating the blood pressure. It also plays a pivotal role in the prevention of coronary heart diseases.
  6. Get rid of dandruff: People with itchy scalp and dandruff can use watermelon seed oil for some relief.
  7. Rich source of proteins and amino acids: Watermelon seeds are a rich source of proteins and amino acids. Thus, it plays a significant role in strengthening the hair. The essential fatty acids go a long way to prevent extensive hair damage. Watermelon seeds are loaded with multivitamin B, ensuring a healthy immune and nervous system.
  8. Full of omega 6 fatty acids: The watermelon seeds are full of polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) and omega 6 fatty acids. The magnesium present in the seeds aid in the stabilization of the metabolic processes, important for the proper functioning of the heart. The watermelon seed oil, known as the Kalahari oil, has excellent moisturizing properties and is often used as a skin moisturizer.
  10. Treat edema: In many cases, watermelon seeds are used to treat edema. A teaspoon of the melon seeds (dried and grounded) is mixed with a teaspoon of honey. The mixture is then added in a cup of water (lukewarm to warm, ~3/4th). Take warm or hot drinks often – hot tea , hot coffee,hot Soups, hot milk. Avoid Fried/Oily foods like –Samosa, Dosa, Pakora, Papad, Namkeens, Potato Chips , Namkeens . Avoid Hotel Food, Avoid Fast food,Hamburgers, Pizza. Do not take any COLD drinks , cold water, ice cream, chilled food from refrigerator.
