Kidney Health by choosing you diet right
1.In addition to eating right and controlling your weight, you can take other simple steps to keep your kidneys healthy, including monitoring your blood pressure, cholesterol and blood glucose level, going to the doctor every year, exercising regularly, not smoking and being aware if kidney disease runs in your family. Kidney stones can develop when minerals build up in your urine. However, eating a diet rich in fruits and vegetables, and low in salt or oxalate-rich food can help prevent mineral build up. Additionally, drinking lots of water throughout the day, especially if you exercise frequently, is important for kidney health.
2.Fluids
Staying hydrated is necessary for prevention and treatment. Keeping your urine diluted is important for keeping your kidneys healthy. Water is the best choice, but you can also drink fruit juices, ginger ale or tea. If your urine is light colored after you go to the bathroom, you are getting enough fluid. Also try to limit caffeinated beverages to one to two cups a day because it can actually make you dehydrated.
3.Fruits and Vegetables
Fruits and vegetables improve your kidney function. Such fruits include grapes, cranberries and blueberries; vegetables include fennel, onions, celery, beets, spinach, string beans and asparagus. If you are suffering from kidney disease, make sure the fruits and vegetables you eat are low in potassium.
4.Low-Potassium Foods
Since kidneys regulate potassium, it’s important that you monitor your potassium intake. If your potassium level gets too high, you may develop a greater risk of suffering a stroke or heart attack. Some examples of low-potassium foods include apples, beans, corn, rice, noodles, pasta, eggplant, cookies without nuts or chocolate, pears, peas, peppers and zucchini.

My son almost 7 months old. For the last 3 days he is pressuring while passing urine. His flow is OK. The frequency of the same almost once in an hour. Few days back we started giving him semi solids and cerelac rice. It's not that every time he applies pressure. But sometimes he does. It's all started 3 days back when he showed some sign of constipation and really struggled to poo. And there was light blood in his stool also. Now main concern is that he pressure during urination. Need to know the reason.

I am a type 2 diabetes patient recently my creatinine level has gone a bit high 1.41 my doctor advice me to have low protein diet I being a nonvegiterian want to know what type of food I can have If I get a diet chart I will follow that meticulously please help

C.S.C, D.C.H, M.B.B.S
General Physician,
Highest Amount of protein Meat, fish, poultry, eggs Milk, yogurt, cheese, peanut butter Small Amount of Protein Vegetables Starches such as breads, cereals, and pasta (the protein in these foods is of poorer but still good quality) Trace Amount of Protein Fruits Fats SugarsProtein is never completely eliminated from the diet. The physician and dietitian can determine how much protein the body is able to handle. However, since the amount of protein is limited, it is important to eat foods that contain high quality protein (meat, milk, fish, poultry, eggs, and peanut butter). These proteins are complete. They contain all the essential amino acids (building blocks of protein). Even though the protein in vegetables and starches is incomplete, it is still important to include these foods in a daily meal plan for a well-balanced diet. Salt and Sodium: Many people with serious kidney or liver disease may also need to limit salt or sodium intake because of high blood pressure or fluid retention. The greatest source of sodium in the diet is table salt. Therefore, the first step in reducing sodium intake is to limit the use of table salt. Certain other foods have a high sodium content and will also need to be limited.Meat and Meat Substitutes One serving contains 7 gm protein, 25 mg sodium. One serving equals: lean beef 1 oz chicken 1 oz fish 1 oz

Hello- kulathi is a very good stone dissolver, if you are not facing any stone than it might be possible that your stone is flushed out or it might become so small to cause obstruction hence pain. Don't stop kulthi, stop your alpha blocker and continue neeri syrup 2 tsp twice daily from now on to remove stone completely and to prevent its recurrence.

Can a person alive if he is suffering from kidney failure just asking no one has problem just for knowledge.

MBBS, DNB (General Medicine)
Endocrinologist, Delhi
Dear lybrate user, it is not only possible for a person to survive with kidney failure but a lot of our patients enjoy life in spite of kidney failure. Renal replacement therapy which is commonly known as dialysis has made that possible. Going a step further when a person gets renal transplant or more commonly known as kidney transplant- then even dialysis is not required. This is the scenario where the kidneys have completely failed. But even during the stages of failure, kidney offers an ample lifetime of years altogether before it completely fails leading to dialysis as the only solution. Our body has got immense resilience and this is true for our kidneys too.

Neem ke patte will not harm you but I have doubts if it will do you any good either. First consult a nephrologist for kidney stone. Perhaps a lithotripsy will be recommended. Whatever is suggested treatment go through it. Then come to me. I will give you help in improving your bodily health.

This problem may be due to some infection in the tract or even a result of small calculi in the kidneys so first do one cue I.e complete urine analysis and get a usg (sonography) of abdomen and pelvis done. U can also have a glass of water in which coriander seeds and whole cumin (jeera has been soaked overnight) this will help in reducing the frequency of urination to some extent.

My mom are facing problem of kidney stone, diabetes and high BP problem please suggest some good diet.

DHMS (Diploma in Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery)
Homeopath, Ludhiana
My mom are facing problem of kidney stone, diabetes and high BP problem please suggest some good diet.
To help manage your diabetes and BP, your meals need to be:--- •Regular and spread evenly throughout the day-- •Lower in fat, particularly saturated fat------------ •If you take insulin or diabetes tablets, you may need to have between meal snacks------- Matching the amount of food you eat with the amount you burn up each day is important. Not putting too much fuel in your body (keeping food intake to moderate serves) is vital to getting the right balance. Along with healthy eating, regular physical activity can help you to manage your blood glucose levels, reduce your blood fats (cholesterol and triglycerides) and maintain a healthy weight. ----------------------. It is important to recognise that one diet does not fit everyone with diabetes. So my slogan for all diabetics is-------------'One Diet does Not Fit All'------------------------ So your mother should consult a dietician in physical to plan a way according to her body weight, activities and tastes and requirements. Only then can you control your blood sugar levels and BP problem--------

I have kidney stone in my kidneys left and right, so it size will 9 mm so what diet should be maintained daily life.
Tips for removing kidney stones:: 1. Avoid tea, coffee, alcohol, cold drinks, pickles, fish, poultry, meat, spinach, and chocolate.... 2. Avoid sour, heavy, and dry food. 3. Increase intake of liquids like water, juice, soup, lime water lemon soda etc. 4. Be sure to drink enough water each day. Usually 1 to 2 liters of water per day is adequate. 5. Drink more if you are perspiring heavily, working outdoors, the weather is hot, etc. 6. Increase the use of barley, horse gram (a type of bean), ginger, and brown rice or parboiled rice. 7. Avoid suppressing urges to urinate and defecate. 9. Boil 10-12 basil leaves in 1 cup of water for 15 minutes. Mix 1 teaspoon of honey in it and take twice a day. Pls send ur USG report becoz medication for stones depends upon size number and location of stones and can be given after USG.
