My mother has diabetes. What are the chances of me getting it. What are the measures I need to take.
Now-a-days, there are chances that a person will get diabetes whether or not there is family history of diabetes. Anyways, the possibility increases in case of positive family history. You need to live a stress-free healthy lifestyle which will include some form of daily exercise with a balanced diet to prevent diabetes.

Aceclofenac and diclofenac are both non steroidal anti inflammatory drugs. Coming to your question of better or more powerful. They are two totally different concepts you have mixed up. Better is based on efficacy of the analgesic without causing much side effects and powerful is based on its extent of action irrespective of what side effects it has. Between the two aceclofenac is better and diclofenac is more powerful.

I have suffered fever from last 5 days? What can I do? Please tell me best doctor in faridabad or Palwal!
-Dolo-650 mg twice or thrice daily can be used to lower a fever -Wear loose fitting clothes and don’t overdress. Overdressing can cause temperature to rise further. -Tepid water (85 F [30 C]) baths may help bring it down -The body should be cooled with a wet sponge. -Fever can cause severe dehydration. Drink plenty of fluids.. Have citrus fruits, particularly Vitamin C rich ones like mausami,Amla juice etc. -Take light and easily digestible home cooked meals .avoid outside food -If fever still don't subside then blood investigations for common infections like dengue ,malaria ,typhoid etc are required

Hye. Anything in excess can become harmful for the body. Taking 2 cups of tea or coffee is not a problem as long as it's not taken to wake up, replace a snack or suppress appetite. The problem with aerated drinks is not as much as about caffeine but more so about the chemicals and sugars present in them too. So, keep to moderation and avoid excessive intake of either.

Alport Syndrome - How It Can Be Diagnosed?

Mbbs, MD - General Medicine, DM - Nephrology
Nephrologist, Ahmedabad
Alport Syndrome - How It Can Be Diagnosed?

Alport Syndrome, first detected by Dr. A. Cecil Alport and named after him is a rare inherited disease. It affects the kidney and also the inner cochlea or ear and the eyes. Passed down through families, it is caused by genetic mutations that affect the type IV collagen family of proteins. Collagen is an important tissue that forms the basement structure of the kidney, inner ear and eye.

Types of Alport syndrome
X-Linked Alport Syndrome: A most common form of Alport Syndrome, boys who are affected with this type tend to develop serious complications and kidney failure.
Autosomal recessive Alport syndrome (ARAS): When both the parents carry the abnormal gene and pass it down to their offspring, this type of syndrome is caused. If affects the male and female with equal severity.
Autosomal dominant Alport syndrome (ADAS): This happens when the child inherits the abnormal gene from one of the parents. Only one copy is needed to cause a mutation.

Signs and symptoms of Alport syndrome
With all types of Alport Syndrome, the tiny blood vessels of the kidney called glomeruli are damaged and the kidney will be unable to filter the toxins from the body. The most common symptoms include:

  1. Hematuria – Blood in the urine
  2. Proteinuria – Protein in the urine
  3. High blood pressure
  4. Edema – Swelling in the legs, ankle, feet and around the eyes
  5. Hearing and vision problems
  6. Flank pain

Diagnosis
The following tests and examinations can be performed to assess the condition and type of Alport Syndrome:
1. Urine test – It helps in finding the presence of blood or protein in your urine
2. Glomerular Filtration Rate – The blood work assesses the levels of waste and protein in your blood
3. Kidney Biopsy – A tiny piece of kidney is removed with special needle and analyzed
4. Hearing Test – It checks, if hearing is affected
5. Vision Test – This is conducted to check any abnormalities in vision
6. Genetic Test – It determines the type of Alport syndrome and confirm the diagnosis

Treatment
There is no specific treatment for Alport Syndrome. However, treatment aims to relieve the symptoms and slow the progression of kidney disease.

  1. Medications to control high blood pressure
  2. Diuretics or water pills
  3. Limiting salt or sodium intake in your diet
  4. Kidney transplantation if patient is progressing towards kidney failure
  5. Medications to slow down the onset of kidney damage

Awareness of family history of this disorder will help in detecting Alport Syndrome at an early stage and also help you take the right steps to prevent any further complications. Seek medical attention and contact a nephrologist immediately if you have a family history of this disease.

Hair fall may be attributed to different reasons like using artificial colors, hair styling, chemicals etc. It may be due to some internal weakness also. Please go for herbal neem shampoo. Use shikakai and amla as conditioner (soak amla and shikakai in water overnight and boil a little in morning). Apply it on hairs. Keep for half an hour and then wash. It will condition the hairs. Too much shampooing can lead to more hair fall. Start using amla bhringraj oil on your dry scalp. This will increase the density & stop hair fall. Eat amla (indian gooseberry) in daily routine in any form whether it is candies, juice or raw. This habit will help in hair re-growth. Amla is a good source of many vitamins & it also increases absorption of iron from gut. For females above 40 years of age iron, calcium is must for stopping hair fall. Avoid using comb in wet hairs.

Initially it will help you to lose weight because you have gone into a calorie deficit by reducing your rotis. But after some time the weight will stagnate. It is not just by reducing rotis you will lose weight. You have to eat clean and exercise well to achieve results. To maintain a low body fat and/or lower body fat: 1. Exercise at least 5 times per week 2. Eat whole/unprocessed foods at regular intervals, while being aware of physical hunger/fullness cues 3. Sleep 7-9 hours per night 4. Don’t engage in extreme diets 5. Stay consistent with your habits 6. Incorporate non-exercise physical activity 7. Ignore food advertising You need a fat loss diet which comprises of whole grains like jowar, bajra, wheat, brown rice, pulses like moong, musoor, bengal gram, lots of vegetables, fruits, eggs, fish, chicken, paneer, healthy oil, nuts and seeds.
