This is regarding my skin. I have grown black patch around my lips and below my nose. Around my lips it looks like dark circles, I have dark circles too. Black patch and spots below my nose (moustache area) is troubling me. I do threading. My T3 & T4 is normal, but TSH is bit high around 6 but my doctor said it's ok for me. I do not take medicine for that. I am over weight. Please suggest what should I do.

Mr. Lybrate-user, by saying" she is suffering from thyroid" are referring to hypothyroidism? because thyroid is a normal gland present is all of us, which produces hormone thyroxine. So please clarify that. If she has hypothyroidism, then she has to avoid soy beans, soy containing products, cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, radish, peanuts, mustard and coffee. She should use whole grain flour for roti and chapati, avoid maida and products made of that. Should consume more of green leafy vegetables, salads and fruits. Should exercise daily for 1 hour and take a restricted diet. Thanks.

Rebecaji, If you are on treatment for hypothyroidism, and if TSH is around 3 to 4 mU/L, then all the symptoms will be in check. As regards pain in left iliac region, it difficult to say why it is occurring. But if you are consuming a lot of so called chinese food, then it may be the cause, as it has aginomotoo (monosodium glutamate) in considerable quantity. It is better avoid or prepare at home. Thanks.

It is hypothyroid. Continue with same dose for a month then get TSH test done. It has nothing to do with fibroid.

lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. Hypothyroidism is a a condition that has to be treated for the lifetime. You should not stop treatment on your own because of normal or low TSH level. Dosage of Thyroxine needs to be adjusted. Since you have stopped the treatment on your own, it is possible that TSH level might have gone up resulting in to increased hypothyroidism. Thanks.

U have to first undergo a sonography for your thyroid gland and some blood test to knw thyroid hormones levels and then form a line of treatment.

TSH is a deep System hormone. Hormones are just like traffic lights they work according to certain principles. Simple blaming it is like ignoring the cause. As the traffic as well as the traffic police are the inputs of traffic signal changes similarly our lifestyle and the resultant emotional variations interact with our core body nature to produce mutually suitable Hormone response. Hence if you take only medicines it is like bribing and it goes on for ever. So you have to take a very strong stand.
