Hello there, for cough, take 2-2 teaspoonful of pranacharya kasantak by mixing it in hot water twice daily. Sitopaladi, praval and tankan bhasm churna taken with honey can also bring relief. Consume this 3 to 4 times a day for relief from dry cough; you can also drink tea with basil leaves or add ginger and black pepper in it. Salted hot water gargling also helps. And stay away from cold drinks and don't take milk when having cough.

If you are suffering from recurrent tonsillitis then I would suggest you will have to go for tonsil surgery after consulting an ent. Your hampered growth may be due to recurrent tonsillar infections.

Dear madam cough syrups do have components to give you sleep ie technically speaking sedatives are included in small doses in cough syrup instead of taking cough syrups as sedatives, I would suggest you two alternatives alternative one: consult a neurologist. Alternative two: follow the following steps which will solve most of problems associated with sleep 1. You have to first have a natural circadian rhythm a. Try to go to sleep and get up at the same time every day. B. And wake at the same time 2. Food a. Do not take coffee or tea after 6 pm b. Milk can be taken 3. Light a. Cover the windows and doors with curtains and avoid light b. Avoid watching tv lying in bed c. Avoid mobile phones / tablets 4. Exercise a. Walk for 45 minutes after dinner b. Take a bath after that try the above simple techniques for two weeks and let me know how much you have improved.

I am 57 year old, male, with asthma since birth. As Doxophylline 400 mg 1-0-1 did not give relief, I have switched over to Theo-Asthalin 1-0-1, and there is relief. I am using Serobid, a long acting beta 2-agonist inhaler + Budecort inhaler with maximum relief. I have a few questions. Will the above drugs suffice for my asthma and are there any side effects of the cartico-steroid inhaler viz Budecort? During the attack of Asthma, I usually have tiredness and body pain with sweating? Are they inter-connected? Will doing breathing exercises help in relieving the symptoms of wheezing? Is meditation also useful? Kindly advice.

MBBS
General Physician, Mumbai
There is no side effects with budecort because it directly acts on the bronchioles and with no systemic absorbtion tiredness and sweating can be corelated with asthma attack breathing exercises and meditation will be helpful to you and few tips for you-- avoid any triggering factor, take folic acid regularly, eat a healthy diet, always be stress free, exercise regularly.

Simple ways for a restful sleep 1.Cut down on caffeine: Caffeine drinkers may find it harder to fall asleep. Even a single cup of coffee in the morning may lead to a sleepless night. Caffeine blocks the effects of adenosine, a neurotransmitter thought to promote sleep. Caffeine can also interrupt sleep by increasing the need to urinate during the night. Because caffeine withdrawal can cause headaches, irritability, and extreme fatigue, it may be easier to cut back gradually rather than to go cold turkey. Those who can’t or don’t want to give up caffeine should avoid it after 2 p.m. Or noon if they are especially caffeine–sensitive. 2.Stop smoking or chewing tobacco: Nicotine is a central nervous system stimulant that can cause insomnia. If you continue to use tobacco, avoid smoking or chewing it for at least one to two hours before bedtime. 3.Limit alcohol intake: Alcohol depresses the nervous system, so a nightcap may seem to help some people fall asleep. Alcohol suppresses REM sleep, and the soporific effects disappear after a few hours. Alcohol also worsens snoring and other sleep breathing problems. 4. Worry and stress causes sleeplessness. Find out what hurts you and resolve the issue.
