Maintain and monitor your urine alkalinity to ph 7.2 Self monitor your blood pressure also, to 110/70 • Avoid foods that are kidney toxins. An alkaline vegan diet that avoids all animal proteins (ground meats, dairy, egg whites, milk, cheese, beef, pork, chicken), soy proteins, yeast, alcohol, concentrated sugars seems to make us feel better. Fruits and Vegetables to avoid: salted foods, tomato, potato, eggplant, peppers, celery, star fruit, strawberries, plums, prunes, soy, margarine, crisco, potato chips and peanuts. While kidney functioning is still excellent, dietary things that help PKD are also high potassium foods; plant based diets with an emphasis on raw fruits and vegetables; whole food starches such as corn on the cob, sweet potatoes, rutabagas, turnips, winter squash. Include a few selected pre-soaked grains (spelt, quinoa, rye, oats, Kashi, brown rice) and pre-soaked nuts (almond, coconut, chestnut). Enjoy plenty of leafy greens, broccoli, radish, and below ground root crops. Soak all beans, legumes, grains, seeds and nuts before eating. This lowers their phytic acid content, making these foods more digestible and alkaline. Salt intake and cholesterol levels are two things that we can alter. Take personalised dietary expert advice. Thanku. Remember, milk, Coffee, Lemonade, Soup, Ice cream, Tea, Juice, Soft drinks, Gelatin, Sherbet, Water, Ice cubes, Alcohol, Popsicles, Pudding, Yogurt, Gravy are to be counted for fluid consumption.

Three days back I had stomach problem . My stomach seems full n had no appetite . I used to spend few minutes in toilet. Guess I was having constipation and now I want to urinate frequently and feels like my bladder is depositing liquid soon. I actually have a bad habit of drinking less water some around only one and half and sometimes not even that. I'm worried if I would have any renal or bladder infection. Also I recently started doing kegel. Please help me out.

Hi lybrate-user, from the information I have got from your question it's hard to guess what the real reason could be, the information regarding frequency of urination is right to an extent, however if you are urinating about 12 times/day and if you have associated fever too then it could mean you may be having a urinary tract infection. My advice to you is to investigate the problem. Step 1 - get a cue (complete urine exam) 2- get fbs, ppbs (blood sugars) bun, and sr. Creatinine (renal function tests) and consult a physician of your choice. I hope this helped. Thanks.

You should follow these very important and simple things to prevent stone formation & to get sure treatment of kidney stones: 1. First take a lot of fluid daily. The more you drink water and fluid, the less amount of deposit accumulate in kidney. So you have to make your kidneys healthy just only by drinking 2-3 liters (10-12 glasses) of water. 2. Stones are mainly formed of calcium and oxalate. So take very low quantity of milk, cheese, cream and dairy products. 3. Do not take strawberry, plum, spinach and tomatoes. These fruits and vegetables are rich in oxalate. So avoid them to prevent from kidney stones. 3. Stop taking supplementary vitamin d and calcium medication. 4. I have diuresis since 2 weeks.

DNB (ENT), MBBS
Ear-Nose-Throat (ENT) Specialist,
Hi . Diuresis or excessive urination can be due to an underlying urinary tract infection. Drink plenty of fluids (upto 2 litres per day) and some cranberry juice if available. Get your blood sugars tested (fbs, ppbs and rbs) as sometimes diuresis is an early sign of diabetes.

Kidney stones treatment depends on the types and size of stone, most kidney stones won't require invasive treatment. You may be able to pass a small stone by: drinking water. Drinking as much as 2 to 3 quarts (1.9 to 2.8 liters) a day may help flush out your urinary system. Unless your doctor tells you otherwise, drink enough fluid mostly water to produce clear or nearly clear urine. Pain relievers. Passing a small stone can cause some discomfort. To relieve mild pain, according to your medical history I may prescribe pain relievers such as ibuprofen, acetaminophen or naproxen sodium. Medical therapy. I am a doctor and renal (kidney) dietitian who will aslo prescribe a customized diet plan and medications to help pass your kidney stone quickly and with less pain. Do reply back for medications. Being also a general physician, I prescribe both evidence based herbal as well as allopathic medicines complementing with dietary tips taking into account patient preferences.

Very surprising that proper medical consultation has not helped her. She requires detail examination by Consultant Physician and a Gynecologist and thoroughly investigated by Physical Examination, Urine examination, Urine culture, Haemogram, Renal Profile Tests and Ultrasound etc. Try again to consult both Physician and a Gynecologist. This problem may be due to some infection in the tract or even a result of small calculi in the kidneys so first do one cue I.e complete urine analysis and get a usg (sonography) of abdomen and pelvis done. U can also have a glass of water in which coriander seeds and whole cumin (jeera has been soaked overnight) this will help in reducing the frequency of urination to some extent.
