Dear Lybrateuser, - To gain weight & build muscles you have to have a well balanced diet with more of protein foods & do regular exercise - have more of fruits & vegetables, whole grains, protein rich foods including eggs, non veg, milk & milk products like cheese, yogurt, cottage cheese, butter milk, soya products, tofu, beans, lentils, pulses, peas, sprouts, nuts including almonds, walnuts, pista, cashews, peanuts, seeds - include a protein food item in each meal & also have as a snack whenever you feel hungry - also do regular exercise like jogging, swimming, play an outdoor game, do moderate weight lifting for 10-15 min 2-3 times a week, also try to include yoga & deep breathing in your daily schedule to keep fit - consult a dietician for your exact calorie requirement as per your daily exercise & activity level.

Hello. Almond (overnight soaked) are good dry fruit that you can consume in the morning. Honey and fig are added in the 1 glass of milk. It's good for health.

Knee Ligament laxity if you have problem in your legs then it might be due to ligament laxity where your legs would become very weak due to the old ligament injury and that should be treated immediately. Wear knee cap so that you will feel firm while walking or climbing stairs. This is a general strain and for this you can follow these measures: one keep a pillow right under the knee while sleeping, next is you can keep ice in the painful area for about 5--10 minutes, if pain still persists you can stretch your body by twisting the waist on both sides how we used to do in the school drill similarly you can try! One time you can do hot water fermentation that would help to reduce the muscle strain.

I do decent amount of physical work as I am into Civil construction so have regular site visits. But I also travel a lot so it's difficult for me to maintain a similar schedule on a daily basis. Midnight Cravings For Snacks - Are There Ways To Curb It?

Midnight snack craving is basically a craving for food when you wake up in the middle of the night. Midnight cravings can lead to weight gain if you binge eat on a regular basis. It is important that you accept the situation and take steps to rectify it.

A majority of the foods that you consume are mostly empty calories such as cookies and sugar based food. If you don't control these cravings, then it may lead to tremendous weight gain. Here are a few tips to control your midnight snack craving -

  1. Eat your Dinner Properly: It is important that you eat a well-balanced dinner that consists of carbohydrates, protein and fats. If you don't eat a proper dinner, then the chances of eating later and subsequent binge eating go up drastically.
  2. Include Fiber: Add fiber to your diet as fiber helps you in feeling full. Eat fiber rich foods such as beans, lentils and broccoli which promote a feeling of satiety.
  3. Green Tea: Drink a cup of green tea after eating as it will help you sleep better.
  4. Stay Hydrated: Make sure that you are properly hydrated as it will prevent food cravings. Dehydration may also lead to other health complication such as skin problems.
  5. Consume Yoghurt: Consume portions of yoghurt as it contains probiotic bacteria that help in keeping your digestive system healthy. It also promotes a feeling of satiety as it contains protein.
  6. Plan an Activity: Don't immediately go to bed after dinner, instead go for a walk or play with your pet. Make sure that you spend some time after dinner prior to retiring for bed.
  7. Eat Healthy: If you do have cravings then go for healthy choices such as eating salads and fruits. Focus on foods such as cucumber, jackfruits and apples.
  8. Protein: Make sure you add protein to your diet as protein helps in muscle building. It also makes you fuller so that you eat less. Include foods such as eggs, chicken and fish to your diet.
  9. Exercise: Exercise on a regular basis. This increases the secretion of endorphins in your body which improve your wellbeing and promote happiness. It will help you sleep better and reduce your craving to eat unhealthy foods.

Gain weight and make fit will be possible with combined action of diet and exercise. Increase the intake of energy and protein with exercise then you will get increase in muscle mass and your weight will increase. Include good protein sources (Egg, Chicken, Mutton etc, Milk, Pulses, Legumes and Beans) in diet to reach the daily requirement. And include two fruit portions daily, and before one hour and after one hour of your exercise include protein rich snacks. Take at least 2 to 3 liter water. In between meals maintain at least 2 to 3 hours gap. Be regular in exercise. These all thing we can say in general and person to person plan will vary. Before exercise also include easily absorbable energy source like fruit juices with your protein rich snacks. In between exercise sips the water, don't gulp as such and after exercise once your heart rate come to normal take sufficient water and protein rich food from above mentioned sources. Make sure you are including all different colored fruits and vegetables in diet. Through maintaining proper required diet and life style normally you will get the weight gain, If you are not getting proper hunger to eat food even after following proper life style for a time period then go and consult a doctor in Gastro department. What I said is healthy life style and food habit. Don't go for any short cut to get weight gain, Improve your life quality with exercise, food and proper rest (at least 7 hours continuous sleep in night), then gradually you will get healthy weight gain and maintain it.

Avoid refined flour, red meat, oily and fat foods, junk food, sugary foods, alcohol, butter, ghee. Stay hydrated all the time. For your post workout meal include oats with milk, paneer, skin out chicken (stewed preferably), fish (salmon, mackerel, tuna), egg white, sprouts, quinoa as they all are high in protein. Consider taking olive oil, almonds, dry dates, green tea as they help you relieve your stress and build up strength and immunity. You can go with any one of the above according to your wish list. Eat foods that are rich in calories like pulses, cereals, meat, bread, rice, dry fruits, and nuts. You can also follow by adding vegetables like French beans, broccoli, Chinese cabbage, carrots, lettuce, spinach, asparagus, pumpkins, and eggplants to your diet. Add a healthy portion of red meat to your diet too if you are non vegetarian. But keep in mind not to overdo it. The aim is to add weight, not cholesterol! You can even add olive oil in generous quantities to your salads. Another way to add calories to your diet is by increasing the consumption of dairy products. Don€’t cut back on the fat content in your milk. Do not ask for low-fat curd, paneer, cheese, at the store. Make sure you consume a full calorie dairy product. DIET CHART TO GAIN WEIGHT - Breakfast: • One, big glass of orange juice or banana shake • A bowl of oatmeal to which dried nuts like almonds, walnuts and raisins are added—using skimmed or low-fat milk and some sugar • 2-3 whole eggs, scrambled or boiled if non- vegetarian • 2-3 slices of multi-grain bread coated with a bit of butter Pre-Lunch/Mid-day Snack: A bowl of yogurt made from low-fat milk Or A few granola bars that are fortified with raisins and sesame seeds Or Whole fruits like apples or chiku or mango Lunch: • At least one form of animal meat like chicken or meat, i.e. One to two servings.(if non- vegetarian) • 4-5 rotis made from whole wheat or multi-grain flour, smeared slightly with ghee. • A big bowl of dal • A cup full of boiled rice • If eating meats is a problem, supplement it with cottage cheese made from tofu or low-fat milk Early Evening Snack: The better choice is a glass of low-fat milk to which an energy-inducing mix has been added. You can choose from a variety of malted mixtures. Try to add more of the malted mix rather than using synthetic sugar. You can use a few high-fiber biscuits or cookies to dip and munch upon. Dinner Options for Gaining Weight Dinner needs some planning since you need to end your day on a calorie high. You should combine at least one type of green vegetable along with a dal or a serving of chicken or fish with some gravy. It is better to have more of rice for dinner rather than rotis from the perspective of gaining weight. Ensure you ask the person cooking meals to use lentils with higher calorie content. This includes black grams and kidney beans. Options for Post-Dinner Snack • A few bites of dark chocolate with high cocoa content • A smoothie of fruits and yogurt • Fruits like strawberries, apples, mangoes or grapes I hope the above diet chart will help you. Please don't do half marathon without practice. 1. It may affect your heart and lungs, anyway nothing happen of that sort good. 2. About your knee joint its muscle spasm dip both your knees in 4 min in Hot water bucket and 3 min in cold water bucket with ice, its Contrast bath therapy it will reduce pain. 3. If still pain is there take ibrufen or myoril as muscle relaxant.

I am writing this on behalf of my wife. She a pain in her left knee from past few 1 month we have been to near by clinics and by there suggestion we have taken a X Ray. Found no issues in the reports so they gave same pain killers and the pain was ok for few days and now she is suffering from the pain again.

The pain is most likely muscle sprain and does not show up on X rays. Try doing stretches for hamstrings and Quadriceps and gentle strengthening exercises. Also cold packs can help reduce pain. If it still persists go for Physiotherapy sessions. Good luck.

If you want to gain weight, then I would recommend you a easy diet plan, Do some exercise also, it will help you to gain weight. No needs to take any supplement. Diet Plan: 1. MORNING: banana shake (2 bananas and 1 glass of milk) sprouts Brown Bread with 2 eggs Or paneer stuffed paratha 2. LUNCH: 1 soup bowl of dal 1 small size bowl of green veg 1 small plate of rice 3 to 4 phulka paneer 100 to 150 gm in day time 3. LATE AFTERNOON: 1 fruit and coffee with 4 cookies 4. DINNER: 1 soup bowl of dal 1 small size of bowl green veg 3 to 4 phulka paneer 100 to 150 gm 5. LATE NIGHT: 1 glass of milk improves your water intake. Weight loss can be because of various reasons like hyperthyroidism, infection like tuberculosis when you lose your appetite, hiv positive status, mental conditions like anxiety, depression where you eat less etc.
