Patients with increased uric acid and no symptoms usually do not require therapy until they develop kidney stones or joint problems, the possibility of which is low if you are asymptotic with such high uric acid. You will have to follow a lifestyle where you should avoid alcohol, peas, beans, rajma chola. Many times excess and strenuous exercise may lead to increased uric acid levels. Avoid that. Take plenty water and get physician consultation at least 6 monthly.

This may happen in a few patients (who had DM for a longer period of time ). Please discuss the problem with the doctor and let your mother keep her moral high because it is a temporary phase. There is no need to go for perfect control. Aggressive changes in the treatment plan may not help the body to accommodate. It needs patience and perseverance (both for the patient and their relatives ). Frequent episodes of hypoglycemia are also are not good for the patient. The sugar control can be done in gradual steps so that blood glucose does not come down drastically at any given time (with regular monitoring while eating her regular balanced diet ). Give ample time for her body to respond naturally. A good counselling can help the patient to cooperate more positively without any panic or anxiety. You can contact me for further clarification.

Hi Sir, I am using lilly insulin pen with humalog mix 25/75 cartridge. My question is which mm needle is suitable 4 mm, 5 mm or 6 mm? Currently I am using novo 6 mm needle. Can I use 4 mm needle? Should I pinch the skin while using 4 mm needle or should I directly inject the insulin without pinching the skin?

All the needle length you mentioned are ok. Smaller needles are associated with less pain. With 4 mm needle you need not have to make skin fold.

I am suffering from hypothyroidism and taking thyroxine from last 3 years with the prescription of doctor. Earlier my tsh remain near to 6 or 4 but now it declined to 0.25. My doctor is still saying to continue 50 and 75 mg thyroxine on alternate basis but I am feeling some kind of weakness in my body and sometimes feels dizziness and fainting, low level of energy in body. Is it due to the excess fall in tsh level and whether I should continue taking 50 and 75 mg alternate or shall minimize it?

TSH as such does not cause any symptoms. They are caused by Thyroid hormone. TSH levels reflect avilaibility of Thyroid hormone. When Thyroid hormne level falls TSH (Thyroid stimilating hormone) secreted from pituitary gland to stimulate thyroid to produce more thyroid hormone and when thyroid hormone level in blood rises (due to excessive production by thyroid gland or exogenously taken, TSH level falls. Intreating patients we take help of TSH levels in blood.

The failure to gain weight is not likely to to related to Thyroids. I would undertake a detailed online clinical evaluation followed by appropriate lab test to find the root cause and treat it.
